Job description
The Direct-to-Consumer channel is experiencing phenomenal growth within Medik8, with huge ambitions and plans to continue this acceleration. The ‘D2C’ team drives this performance: we capture potential customers at the start of their journey through key digital marketing channels; ensure they have a positive, helpful and engaging experience on our websites; then build an ongoing relationship with them from their first purchase and beyond. We think digitally and commercially, and make decisions based on what the data tells us - if we aren’t sure, we test it and aren’t afraid to change course if it’s the right thing to do.
The role:
Our D2C websites are built on the Shopify platform and managed by the E-Commerce team within D2C. They work closely with Digital to ensure we maintain excellent standards at all times, so that our websites remain the channel of choice for our customers. We have four websites across EMEA, and each contains a huge volume of pages and content: from our homepage and product pages, to our Sustainability pages and Skincare resource, each page plays its part in our customers’ journeys and as such must be excellent.
As Website Assistant, you will be the eye on the ground to ensure our existing website pages and content are set up as they should be, as well as creating new pages as we continue to grow our product portfolio and build more educational content. You will strive for consistency across all four websites, taking what is best practice from our UK flagship and replicating across the rest of EMEA so that all our global customers can truly benefit. You understand how different pages and sections of the site feed into the customer journey so that you can propose and make changes that truly reflect this. You will spend a lot of time getting to know and understand our websites, so you really are the first person to spot a mistake and fix it quickly - sometimes leaning on Digital, Global Brand, R&D or others to support. Finally you will support the Senior E-Commerce Manager and E-Commerce Executive on all things web, giving you the opportunity to contribute to all the other areas that make e-commerce truly exciting!
In more detail your role will include:
- Day to day management of product and collection pages in Shopify, from initial page set up, content updates and real-time troubleshooting, briefing in development and content requests as needed
- Page builds and navigation updates for new content: rebuilding and updating existing blog posts into commercial pages, and ensuring these pages are correctly signposted and visible to our customers
- Creation and maintenance of our site ‘hero’ content, such as brand content and sustainability, working with the relevant teams to ensure you have the right copy and assets with which to build strong pages
- Replicating key changes make on the UK website across to the other three websites in EMEA, to maximise region-wide site performance, and ensure consistency for our customers
- Supporting the rest of the E-Commerce team in their day-to-day duty in running the website, including ad hoc tasks, reporting, research and briefing.
To be considered for this role, here are the skills we’re looking for:
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal); able to clearly articulate what is needed and why to any audience of stakeholders
- Hands on approach to work, happy to get your hands dirty to get stuff done
- Self starter who can own and work through a set of tasks independently, but knows when to reach out and ask for help
- Logical thinker, can think through a problem and offer sensible solutions
- Experience working in a sales or commercial environment with exposure and some understanding of the digital world is welcome, but not essential as you will learn on the job
- Genuine interest in e-commerce, with a desire to build breadth of understanding
- Experience within the beauty industry is welcome but not essential (can be in-house or agency, media)
