The Product Manager (Web) is accountable for developing, optimising, and managing our portfolio of websites to give the best experience for our customers and the best return for our business.
Our Digital Product Managers are at the sharp end of product delivery. Taking charge of the website, you’ll be responsible for analysing commercial performance, defining new features, prioritising them, writing user stories, reviewing solutions, defining acceptance criteria, and approving the work your delivery teams produce. You’ll work with stakeholders in a dynamic and fast paced environment to make high quality decisions quickly and make sure that the business (most importantly, your development team) is fully engaged.
To succeed, you’ll clearly be familiar with scrum and have worked as a product owner / product manager (or similar) previously. You’ll be a digital expert and evangelist, familiar with the full digital product lifecycle. You’ll be commercially literate and used to using data to help you form plans and strategies. There’s a big “people” element, too – you’ll be a strong communicator and leader, instilling confidence in your team and your stakeholders, up to C-sure level
Accountabilities:
- Product Manager within a digital Agile Software Delivery environment (Scrum)
- Familiar with ‘product ways of working’.
- Works with designers to produce and optimise the detailed customer journey / UX.
- The “single decision maker” for the Scrum team, responsible for making sure stakeholders are consulted & involved as appropriate.
- Writes user stories, sets acceptance criteria, prioritises them and sells them to the Scrum team and wider business.
- Sets the quality bar & commercial goals and ensures they’re achieved.
- Communicates the product vision and goal for features to the Scrum team, ensuring that they understand both what they’re supposed to do and why, so that they can make smart decisions.
- Assesses and communicates delivery risks.
- Identifies the interdependencies between different scrum streams.
- Networks across business areas, including campaign, tactical and product launches, to ensure they have full context in their work.
- Works with PJ stakeholders (up to Director / VP, with occasional exposure at C-suite / SVP level) and franchisees to agree the feature roadmap for their product and ensure continued engagement.
- Works closely with Software Testers to develop automated (behaviour/test-driven) test cases.
- Works with Scrum Master to ensure the Scrum process runs effectively and that any blockers identified are effectively removed.

Knowledge:
- Proficient in product ways of working
- Good working knowledge of Scrum
- Use of structured analysis methods
- Use of data to inform decisions and push innovation
- Use of analytical tools such as ClickTale, Google Analytics
- Involvement in all aspects of the project lifecycle
- Commercially literate
- Good working understanding of interaction design, user experience design and graphic design (note, does not have to be “hands on”, but must be able to critique and identify good vs bad)
- Good working understanding of common digital technologies (note, does not have to be “hands on”, but should be able to understand the role that different technologies play in delivering a good digital product)
