We’re looking for you to:

The entry requirements for our positions are Level 1 Functional Skills English/Mathematics & Level 1 Key Skills Communications/Application of Number OR GCSE English/Maths Grade D & GCSE English/Maths Grade 3 OR Basic Skills Certificate Level 1 Adult Numeracy/Literacy OR O Level English/Maths Grade D.

Due to the nature of the role, you will need to be 18 or older and hold a full UK driving licence and live a maximum of 30-40 minute journey from your base location.

You will complete the Level 3 Water Industry Treatment Process Technician. The programme will last between 15 to 18 months including an End Point Assessment. This will be a full-time role with four days a month combination of classroom and Off the Job training and assessment at our Fobney Water Treatment Works in Reading, Berkshire. We will support your college attendance by paying for your accommodation and travel expenses in line with our business expense policy.

Our technicians are a vital component of what we do in our business and as a Water Treatment Process Technician Apprentice you will play a key role in ensuring that our treatment processes work effectively every day. This is a great opportunity for anyone looking to get stuck into the real process of keeping our water clean.

You will be working alongside an experienced technician for the duration of your programme and will receive ongoing support from your dedicated mentor on site, line manager and engagement partner who will guide you and help develop your experience to excel within your career at Thames Water.

You will be part of a skilled & enthusiastic team, who relies on working together and utilizing each other’s skill sets to get the job done correctly and safely. You will gain experience in a wide range of plants and equipment and learn techniques, both old and innovative. Our Water Treatment Technicians maintain and ensure the safe supply of drinking water for all our customers. Day to day, your duties may look like:

  • Being responsible for meeting quality, regulatory, safety, security, and environmental requirements.
  • Ensuring the health and safety of self and others including ensuring hygiene practices are followed.
  • Considering how your work has the potential to impact customer service and the company - financially and reputationally.
