Job description
Who are we?
Thames Water is the UK’s largest water and wastewater company. We make a daily difference to our 15 million customers by supplying 2.6 billion litres of water through 32,000 km of pipes, keeping taps flowing and toilets flushing.
At Thames Water, every one of our actions, big and small, matters every day. Water is essential to life, so our business is always open.
What will you be doing?
This is an opportunity to work on the statutory Water Resources Management Plan when our future water deficits, and that of the Southeast of England, are the highest that we have ever faced. This requires the development of the largest range of supply options we have ever undertaken, including billion-pound reservoirs, national transfers, and water recycling plants. You will also work with colleagues to plan the delivery of the largest smart customer metering programme in the UK water industry, reduce leakage by 50% requiring an extensive mains replacement programme, and further protect the environment, especially chalk streams from over-abstraction.
We’re looking for you to
- Have a background in working with complex engineering projects.
- Good technical working knowledge of the water supply system and hydraulics, from water catchment to customer tap.
- Have a relevant engineering degree
- Strong IT skills including Office products
- Have proven management background of external consultants.
- Have a background of working within a team and the management and supervision of external providers from a performance/budgetary perspective to achieve quality and on-time delivery of complex work packages.
What’s in it for you?
This role is a great opportunity to be part of the future vision of managing water supplies across the country to ensure everyone always has access to water.
Our competitive salary package includes an excellent contributory pension, 26 days holiday per year increasing to 30 with the length of service, and a wider benefits scheme.
