water resources engineer Birmingham, England
Job description
Are challenges, rewards and making a difference with your leadership, part of your career plan?
We’re looking for vibrant, self-motivated leaders who can inspire teams within the Water, Land & Biodiversity (WLB) department. You will lead our teams to meet our goals and achieve outcomes that promote a cleaner and healthier environment for the diverse communities we serve and the economy across West Midlands, through our strategic 5-year action plan, EA2025.
You’ll be committed to developing yourself and those in your team, providing a positive role model who's versatile in creating an open, inclusive and trusting culture where people thrive. You will look to share good practice and ways of working, identify opportunities for the business and ways to realise them.
These roles have direct line management of a range of staff at different stages in their careers. Some are vastly experienced, and others are new in role. You will be required to lead and to develop all of them.
These are hybrid roles, working at least 40% of the time away from home (for full time workers this is at least 2 days per week). You’ll have the flexibility to choose which days and locations.
Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
There are several roles we are looking to fill with this round of recruitment within environment management and environmental monitoring. We’re looking to use our team leader resource flexibly to ensure our teams have all the support they need to deliver.
Additionally, you should:
- have a track record of dealing with complex leadership situations
- be able to set direction and deliver activities through your team
- effectively balance work priorities against business planning and resource management
- be flexible, resourceful and prioritise work to deliver the best outcomes
- have a positive attitude and the ability to work independently to prioritise workloads
- be a clear and confident communicator, with the ability to develop and maintain good relationships with colleagues at all levels of the organisation
We have a range of environmental and flood incident roles you can volunteer for, including out of hours duty roles.
If you would like to discuss these roles, please contact Amy Robinson, WLB Delivery Manager on 07867905945 or email [email protected]
You can download the candidate pack for more information.
Interviews will be held w/c 7 August 2023.
We’re committed to having an inclusive workforce to reflect the communities we serve. We welcome flexible working patterns, so please include any information regarding your preferred working arrangements on your application.
