Position Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Warehouse Operations Manager to join The Macallan. The purpose of this role is to lead a team responsible for the bulk spirit and cask handling operations relating to mature whisky supply and maturing liquid stock. This is an all-encompassing role including warehouse operations, vacuity management, stock control, cask sampling, minimising liquid losses, mature vatting, marrying, racking, tanker despatch, compliance, and security at both The Macallan and Parkmore sites.
Job Description
This role leads a team of up to 60 people at The Macallan Estate across two shifts. The Warehouse Operations Manager has close working relationships with senior management teams, other cross functional departments (IT, HR, Engineering, Finance) and across the Global Supply Chain and the Macallan Business Unit as required. Key tasks and responsibilities of this roles include:
- Collaborate and manage Macallan business unit requirements to deliver excellent quality and service to plan
- Work with The Macallan guest experience and events team to promote the brand difference of our exceptional casks and maturation
- Provide support to the senior leadership team on the strategic development of warehouse operations across Edrington
- Responsible for managing a maturing inventory of casks across Macallan and Parkmore with particular focus on optimum maturation, minimising losses and effective vacuity management
- Responsible for being fully conversant with all company quality, environmental and health and safety policies and procedures, and with statutory requirements of direct relevance to their operations
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence across warehouse operations
- Prepare and monitor annual department budget including CAPEX plan
- Support out of hours on call incident rota as required
Skills and Experience
To succeed in this role, you have excellent knowledge and a minimum of 3 years’ experience of operations management. You have a strong track record of inspiring, leading and developing people at all levels. Previous knowledge of the whisky industry would be advantageous and education to degree level desirable, preferably in operations management, engineering or science.
