Crown Peterborough will benefit from state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies and modern practices to support high-speed and highly automated beverage can-making capable of producing 3 billion cans per annum. The Plant will operate 24 hours per day on a continuous shift system, 360 days per annum, and will employ approximately 280 people.

Shift Pattern
You will work on a Continental Based Shift Rota, attending 2 x 12-hour days followed by 2 x 12-hour nights, then 4 days off. After a pattern of five of these shifts you have 14 days off and we also give you 18 days off in the summer.
This equates to 144 rostered shifts per year and an outstanding work/life balance!
About this opportunity
This is an incredible opportunity to join Crown in a brand-new role and become one of our ‘first feet on the ground’, allowing you to be involved in setting up the Warehousing function for the Plant and putting best practices in place from day one.
Primary areas of activity and responsibility for Warehouse Technicians will include processing all the necessary paperwork for customers and store deliveries as well as supplier returns.
Main Responsibilities
- Support the Warehouse, Stores, and Shipping Supervisor on data input to the MRP system and other files from stock takes
- Check with drivers on arrival load reference details whilst liaising with the Warehouse, Stores, and Shipping Supervisor to ensure load details of the product to be loaded for delivery or return match the dispatch and collection schedules
- Monitor and issue relevant documents to the vehicle drivers.
- Process and provide all drivers with the relevant documentation for their deliveries and returns
- Communicate with drivers in transit, or with Customer Service Coordinators about the status of freight
- Receive incoming and ship outgoing materials, products, or supplies
- Dispatch other raw materials and packaging to the shop floor, collect empty container’s waste, drums, and barrels to store in appropriate locations for disposal
- Inspect all the goods prior to receipt or dispatch to report abnormalities to the Warehouse, Stores, and Shipping Supervisor
- Count items received or shipped to check against packing lists, and maintain a record of shortages or damages
- Process manual dispatches and update the entries in the Management Software Inventory Module (SAP)
- Store delivered items, and check shelves and locations for outdated or damaged material on a regular basis to ensure appropriate inventory levels
- Generate pallet labels for purchased products as required, when not covered by IT systems
- Liaise with the Plant Buyer on new/outstanding purchase order delivery information
- Issue vehicle-based information to monitor supplier performance, and collect data to keep records, forms, and freight documents for all inbound and outbound traffic
- Prepare goods receipts, dispatch reports, and deliver requested supplies to internal departments
- Ensure following safe driving, workplace safety rules and perform any function that requires the use of a Forklift within the Plant
- Load, unload, pile, and transfer all kinds of products, materials, spare parts, and machinery to specific areas of the plant
- Supply the production and subsidiary departments with all kinds of materials.
- Perform Forklift precautionary maintenance that covers cleaning, controlling, filling, and changing oils, water, battery, tires, filters, and greasing
Required Education and Qualifications
- A technical qualification (E.g., NVQ, BTEC, HNC, Diploma) in a Mechanical or Logistics discipline or similar subject
- Forklift Driver’s License
Required Knowledge and Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a similar role
- Awareness of commercial business/customer needs whilst putting quality first
- Self-starter, and an effective team player
- Safety and continuous improvement mindset
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in English at all levels
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
- Familiarity with the use of computers
