Reporting directly to Warehouse Manager

We are looking for a dedicated member of the team to join the management team in the day to day running of the warehouse where work and customer focus becomes priority.

The role will suit someone who is open to change and happy to help develop both the warehouse functions and the team. The ideal candidate will be fair and consistent in their approach and will be confident in dealing with all aspects of staff management.

Overall Purpose of the Role:

· Alongside the Warehouse Manager, will be responsible for the operation of the Warehouse function and will support the Management Team with the day-to-day operation of the warehouse

· Responsible for the day-to-day workload of Warehouse Operatives, ensuring an efficient warehouse operation to ensure business targets are met

· Alongside the Warehouse Manager will provide line management support to the team, coordinating daily workloads to ensure that the team meets production targets, KPIs and quality standards, monitoring any issues throughout the day

· Develop the team by focusing on individual performance and support requirements to achieve high standards, whilst fostering the Hillcroft culture of working safely

· Work under general supervision, reviewed by the Warehouse Manager. Be able to contribute to company business decisions that have an impact on the function and the success of the team

Key Responsibilities:

· General and task management

· Assist in running an efficient warehouse operation, ensuring that operational and customer demands are met

· Train new Warehouse Operatives within their area of responsibility

· Ensure that stock movements are recorded accurately

· Support the organisation and participation in stock takes at regular intervals

· Ensure that Orderwise (WMS) is kept accurate and up to date

· Identify any systems improvements and make recommendations for change

· Where possible, resolve any issues or problems which occur in the warehouse and where appropriate elevate the issue to a more senior level

· Report statistics as and when required

· Review ways to reduce waste

· Assist in planning future capacity requirements

· Ensure that health and safety meet the required standards and help carry out risk assessments

· Ensure that all lifting and maneuvering of products and materials is carried out in accordance with manual handling procedures

· Ensure that manual handling equipment is well maintained and fit for purpose

· Maintain high standards of security and stock accuracy in the warehouse

· Ensure staff comply to health, safety and environmental regulations and work safely to protect themselves and others in the warehouse environment

· Ensure a clean and tidy working environment to aid operational efficiency

People Management:

· Manage time and attendance for Warehouse Operatives and support the Warehouse Manager with people issues

· Communicate with staff on a regular basis to make them aware of priorities, targets and operational requirements

· Support with recruitment and staff training as well as monitoring performance, progressing where necessary to ensure targets are met

· Report progress updates, key achievements, and any concerns to the Warehouse Manager

Skills and Attributes:

· Supervisory and Team Leader skills with the ability to motivate, develop and supervise others

· Good communication and interpersonal skills

· Good IT skills, in particular spreadsheets and databases and a knowledge of warehouse systems

· Analytical and numerical

· Has a good understanding of customer deliverables and the impact of failure / cost of poor quality

· Good planning skills and can meet targets and deadlines

· Excellent attention to detail

Qualifications and Experience Levels:

· GCSEs Level A-C, NVQ Level 2

· An appropriate warehousing qualification or relevant experience

· Knowledge of working with WMS

· Supervisory qualification or relevant experience

· Proven experience as a Team Leader with experience of supervising and motivating a team

· A good working knowledge of health and safety and security requirements

· Knowledge and understanding of lean techniques

· Forklift Truck licence or willingness to undertake the appropriate qualification

Hours of work: 10.00am – 7.00pm, Monday to Friday. Flexibility will be required during busy periods.

28 days per year holiday (including bank holidays)
