What is the job opportunity?

We are now recruiting for a warehouse operative to join the day shift in our friendly Birmingham team.

What’s the overall purpose of the role?

To assist with all aspects of warehouse work from goods in to loading lorries for outgoing deliveries, taking in deliveries from suppliers and preparing customer orders.

What will you be doing?

As a key member of the warehouse team, you will assist in all aspects of warehouse work, including:

  • Dealing with incoming deliveries (from suppliers)
  • Unloading stock (from the National Distribution Centre) from internal delivery vehicles
  • Loading lorries for outgoing deliveries (to customers)
  • Accurately loading delivery vehicles within the allocated time frame, ensuring all deliveries are loaded safely
  • Picking customers’ orders
  • Preparing customers’ orders ready for collection at the Trade Counter
  • Carrying out stock checks
  • Cutting materials on our machinery
  • Moving and relocating stock
  • Following all aspects of Manual Handling and safe working practices
  • Handling all freight with care and attention
  • Ensuring the warehouse is kept tidy and that Health and Safety issues are reported immediately

Job details

  • Full-time (40 worked hours per week), Monday to Friday, Night Shifts
  • 25 days annual leave (pro rata for the remainder of the year)
  • PLUS statutory/bank holidays
  • Permanent

What do you NEED to have?

  • Able to manually lift/carry/move up to 25 kg
  • Able to work well as part of a team.
  • Able to work with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Happy to work in a warehouse environment.
  • Committed to delivering excellent customer service

What would be ADVANTAGEOUS for you to have?

  • a current, valid forklift, counterbalance or reach truck licence.
  • previous experience working in a warehouse or distribution centre.
  • a first aider qualification.
  • a commitment to learn and progress within the branch.
