We have an exciting permanent opportunity for a Warehouse Operative to join Northern Gas Networks.

The Warehouse Operative role will contribute to a cost effective, customer focused service, with zero tolerance to safety by taking responsibility for items of stock moving in and out of the Stores and repair and maintenance activities to plant and equipment. To achieve this, the role requires substantial management and adherence to the SAP database. This will ensure that the safe and efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch of warehouse equipment is delivered, accurately accounted for, and maintained. The role will continually strive to improve productivity and cost saving opportunities to ensure objectives are met without compromising our customers or safety performance. New technology implementation in the Warehouse is a key part of the role and therefore, you will need to utilise your technological skills and acumen as well as possessing strong administrative and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsibility for the delivery and collection of both inward and outward stock movement whilst maintaining accuracy of the recording of stock on the relevant electronic systems before it leaves the warehouse to feed into the business operations
  • Ensuring that the delivery and collection of stock is carefully and accurately monitored in line with stock levels and check the accuracy of all incoming and outgoing stock by ensuring the system is up to date
  • Operating and repairing where appropriate, mechanical lifting and handling equipment, tools and other equipment in a safe and competent manner ensuring that all equipment and tools are correctly maintained and stored, e.g. mini excavator, pneumatic tools etc
  • Ensuring the repair and maintenance of equipment for operatives and departments within NGN, providing a service whereby teams and individuals will be provided with compliant equipment that is fit for purpose in accordance with relevant HSE Legislation, Company Standards and Codes of Practice.
  • Work in collaboration with onsite customer teams and managers to ensure the correct documentation and ordering processes are followed in line with the relevant electronic stock systems, ensuring accurate records for all inward and outward inventory movements.
  • You will take ownership and be solely responsible for any discrepancies that arise within the electronic stock system.
  • Carry out driving duties as part of the role to deliver and pick up equipment and tools. Also, to provide support at other Warehouses.

What we’re looking for:

  • Possession of a current Full Driving Licence
  • IT Skills – Competent in using Excel, Word, and Outlook to a good standard.

Desirable: (But not essential as training will be provided where required)

  • Experience in service, calibration, maintenance of plant and equipment
  • Experience of using MRP, warehousing systems and SAP (Training on SAP 4 will be provided)
  • Possession of a current Gas Network Safety Passport or equivalent
  • Telehandler license
  • Trailer/Towing license (parts B/E on license)
