£19,500

Employment Type: Permanent

Duration of Apprenticeship: 12 months

Hrs per week: 37.5

Shifts: Monday to Friday, 2pm till 10pm

Location: Barnsley


What the role involves

EVRi is partnering with Barnsley college to offer fully funded Level 2, Express Delivery Sortation Hub Operative apprenticeship. Together, we will give you the tools and training needed to be successful, so that you can move into a career with Evri as part of our Barnsley Hub Team.


During your apprenticeship you will learn about and become accountable for:

  • Unloading and loading of parcels from the back of trailers.
  • Using machinery such as telescopic conveyors to extend into the back of trailers allowing you to work more efficiently.
  • Moving freight to designated inbound and outbound areas.
  • Completing repetitive handling and lifting sometimes heavy and awkward parcels.
  • Using hand-held devices to scan parcels following the correct Standard Operating Procedure and achieving compliance KPIs specific to warehouse areas.
  • Effective and supportive communication within your team and with management in your area.
  • The parcel presentation quality when loading parcels onto the belt for scanning and ensuring parcels are placed in the correct location and holding area’s if required.
  • Following the processes to reduce no-reads and misroutes of parcel’s barcodes.
  • Achieving the targets on your area each shift set by your Supervisor and Process Manager.
  • Adhering to all Health and Safety regulations and following correct operating procedures, including following the correct procedure to open and close dock doors and levellers.
  • Regular use of pump trucks to move parcels and assets.
  • Personal and warehouse hygiene.
  • Your personal output in a fast-paced environment.
  • Adhering to all company policies and procedures and convey the Evri values.
  • You will ensure all KPI targets area are met while regularly listening to instructions from your supervisor.


What You’ll Need to Become a Evri Apprentice?

  • You must be aged 18 or over
  • Able to speak and write in English
  • Be willing to work towards a Level 2 Function Skill in English and Maths if required
  • Experience in working in a physically demanding environment (Warehouse experience is desired, but not essential)
  • Experience of working in a large team
  • Able to use technology and pick up how to use new devices quickly
