About the role

The retail back of house operation supports all of the retail commercial outlets including on-site shops, pop-up shops & e-commerce. Processing all stock deliveries, shop and customer orders in a timely fashion to maximise profit and availability to visitors at all times. NHM Warehouse operates a 5 over 7 Rota with one full weekend in four.

Working as part of a team of motivated colleagues, passionate about retail, logistics and customer service, the role includes:

  • Booking and processing stock deliveries from suppliers and investigating variances.
  • Fulfilment of shop and website customer orders. Producing picking lists, Creating Transfers.
  • Upkeep of stock locations and inventory management.
  • Opportunity to obtain Forklift Truck and Electric Pallet Truck certification.
  • Maintain KPI’s to evaluate, Booking In, Order Picking Efficiency & Order Picking Errors
  • Carrying out Rolling Stock Checks in the warehouse, investigating stock variances.

Line manage and train Warehouse Operatives as required.

Main Responsibilities

  • Assist the Warehouse Manager with all aspects of warehouse stock control. Manage warehouse assistants and Agency staff to always ensure a well-organized and well-maintained warehouse operation.
  • Oversee one or more of the four core warehouse zone teams –
  • Goods In: Process delivery bookings, stock receipts, customer returns, shop returns and damages. Communicate with On Site Goods in Team to ensure smooth transition of incoming stock.
  • Stock Management: Replenish warehouse, pick orders for shops, online customers, and wholesale.
  • Goods Out: Check and pack all outgoing orders for Wholesale and Amazon Fulfilment and process through the Stock Management System.
  • Ecomms: Process online Web orders, making sure all orders are picked and packed to be despatched in the allotted time frame.
  • Complete bi-annual and weekly rolling stock takes, and any subsequent recounts as defined by the Central Team. Ensure all counts are signed off by the Warehouse Manager.
  • Report instances of inventory variance to the Merchandising Manager for inclusion in future rolling stock takes. Complete stock loss investigations and report findings to Merchandising Manager, Warehouse Manager.
  • Communicate internally and externally with customers, suppliers and NHM stakeholders in a professional manner at all times whether by phone or e-mail, reflecting Museum values and customer service standards.
  • Always comply with the Museum’s Health and Safety and Fire Safety policies and procedures and with the HASAW act. Report any health and safety or facilities concerns to the Warehouse Manager in a timely fashion.
  • Monitor output and efficiency and report data to the Warehouse Manager.
  • Train and multi-skill all colleagues in all aspects of the business.
  • Ultimately, the candidate should be able to ensure productivity targets, KPI’s are achieved and that the warehouse processes are running smoothly and efficiently.

About you

  • Experience of managing/supervising warehouse operatives in a similar fast paced environment
  • Minimum of four GCSE qualifications (or equivalent) in English & Mathematics.
  • Experience of working in a busy commercial warehouse environment
  • Familiarity with Cybertill/Magento or similar Stock Management Systems
  • Good communication and presentation skills - Telephone and E-mail
  • Passionate about customer/Inter Departmental service.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (including Word, Outlook and Excel.)
  • Counterbalance Forklift Truck certification is an advantage though full training will be offered.
  • A Practical understanding of Health and Safety within a fast-moving warehouse environment is desirable.
  • Able to prioritize work in a calm and efficient manner in a fast-paced multi role warehouse environment.
  • Must function well with minimum supervision. Must be a detail-oriented individual with good organizational skills and eye for detail.
  • Ability to function in a supervisory capacity to facilitate a busy workflow and plan activities/workload/Projects as required.
