MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE
This is an extremely exciting role within a busy Warehouse environment. As the Assistant Warehouse Manager, you will support the Warehouse Manager in leading the team in organising the efficient and safe storage and dispatch of warehouse products. You will assist the Warehouse Manager in delivering the daily operations of the Warehouse facility, managing processes to ensure the effective flow of goods into, through and out of the warehouse to the point of delivery. Maintaining focus on right first time to ensure your branch remains efficient while providing the highest level of customer service to all your customers.
ACCOUNTABILITES
This role will involve supporting the Warehouse Manager in the following responsibilities:
- Oversee receiving, warehousing, distribution and maintenance operations
- Manage stock control and reconcile with data storage system
- Plan work rotas, assign tasks appropriately and appraise results
- Ensure that warehouse operational costs are maintained within budget
- Provide regular and ad hoc operational reports as requested.
- Ensure all training requirements are met and regularly reviewed.
- Maintain fleet operations in line with legal requirements and transport policy
- Maintain a safe working environment in line with health & safety legislation
- Ensure customer service level meets company objectives, through measuring and taking corrective action where necessary, going above a beyond.
- Directing and motivating warehouse team on meeting operational goals in an environment where the customer satisfaction is critical and constantly strive for continuous improvement
SKILLS KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
Essential Skills & Experience
- Minimum of 1 year expertise in a similar role
- Experience in warehouse management procedures and best practices
- Proven ability to implement process improvement initiative
- Hands on experience with warehouse management software and databases
- Leadership skills and experience of managing and developing a team.
- Ability to network, build strong relationships and influence effectively
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Packages
- Knowledge of effective inventory management to ensure good stock levels
- Experience of managing health and safety, to aid continuous improvement and develop a proactive safety culture
- Ability to drive a values’ led culture and lead by example in line with the MyLife Values of Passion, Pride, Professionalism and Progress.
- Travel will be required to various sites, hence a clean driving license is essential
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Previous ERP Experience, in particular WMS Kerridge.
- Experience in logistics and planning
- Forklift (Counter & Reach)
