POSITION SUMMARY:
The Warehouse Manager will be responsible for planning and coordinating all operational activities associated with the Company’s Canadian operation including warehousing and order fulfillment. The successful candidate will work to minimize the financial investment in inventory and will manage the in-house functions of warehousing, picking/packaging and transportation
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day operations of warehouse including but not limited to: receiving, put away, transfers, restocking, re-packing conversions and shipment processing
- Maintain high levels of accuracy in daily operations
- Interact with drivers-partners, managing and improving their processes where possible
- Work to ensure safety is an essential requirement for all employees and guests at all times
- As this position transitions into the new facility, provide leadership by providing warehouse staff with onboarding, training and solving day-to-day support issues
- Lead teams and guide which projects to focus on, set aggressive timelines to reach goals and be accountable for results
- Provide effective and efficient guidance in developing staff with timely feedback and deliver clear expectations of performance
- Determine direction for recruitment, training, development, structure and performance management for front line staff
- Create and foster a motivating and team oriented work environment
- Provide senior management with regular, constructive and relevant feedback
- Share and seek out best practices and knowledge, design and deliver training programs as required
- Consumable resources management; source and maintain cost effective vendor relationships
- Effectively manage 3rd party providers (outside storage and co packers)
- Facilities management; docks, doors, lights and general maintenance
Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
- 3 to 5 years ‘hands on’ management experience in a high-volume, pick/pack warehouse facility is essential
- Experience gained in a high growth, continuous improvement or re-engineering environment would be an asset
- Ability to appropriately prioritize multiple competing demands and leverage available resources to ensure all deadlines are met
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Fork lift experience is mandatory as is certification on counter balance, walkie and reach truck
- Must be knowledgeable with applicable legislation including health and safety regulations; supporting and upholding all H&S policies; adhering to all warehousing, handling and shipping legislation requirements
- Able to maintain strict adherence to warehouse Standard Operating Procedures
- Manage receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing SOPs are followed and on schedule
- Proficient in MS Office (excel, word) and Outlook as well as Inventory Management and Shipping software
- Safeguard warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols
- Manage the WH schedule and labour budget
- Must possess a thorough understanding of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) functions and how it relates to operational procedures including receiving, order processing, picking, packing, shipping, cycle counting, and reverse logistics
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of 7 years of experience (3 - 5 years+ in a management role) in distribution and logistics, preferably in a high-volume, pick/pack warehouse facility
- ForkLift experience and certification a must (Counterbalance, reach truck, scissor lift)
- WSIB experience and certification a must
- WHMIS & First Aid training and certificate preferred
- Joint Health & Safety training and certificate a must
- WMS experience preferred
- Ability to lift 50lbs or more constantly throughout the day
- Valid Ontario driver's license
- Occasional travel (primarily in North America) maybe required
- Knowledge of Road / Rail / Air / Ocean transportation
- Knowledge of Transborder operations and customs clearance
- Knowledge of small package courier software, UPS, Purolator, FedEx
- Knowledge of Customer based software; Retail Link (Walmart), Century Distribution, Commerce Hub
Education and Certifications:
Bachelors Degree or College Diploma related

- Lifting, Pulling, Pushing: Exert up to 50 pounds for force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Predictable attendance on site
- Using a standard computer keyboard and monitor

- Work has deadlines, multiple interruptions and may be stressful at times.
- Work may require occasional travel
- Exposure to machinery with moving parts
