Edith Cavell ward is a 28 bedded ward specialising in Gastrointestinal and Rheumatological medicine .

As one of the first three star Foundation Trusts, we are now seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Ward Clerk to join our ward. This is a fast paced unit so you’ll need to be constantly on the ball, but it’s an exciting opportunity to join the team.

As a Ward Clerk will have the ability to manage your own caseload, and have a strong track record to be able to demonstrate high quality of admin and reception tasks and communicate effectively to the patient’s and visitors to the unit

Working hours: 37.5 per week
- To provide a client centred reception service with respect to greeting patients,visitors and staff.
- To effectively deal with internal and external telephone enquiries; resolving queries as appropriate or otherwise passing them onto the appropriate individuals.
- To ensure that all relevant information including Healthcare Record are available for all patients.
- To record all patient information on the confidential computer system accurately and in ‘real-time’.
- After discharge of patient, to document, track and deliver completed Healthcare Records to the appropriate department.
- After discharge of patient, to make any outpatient appointments as requested by the clinical team.
- To make the relevant transport arrangements for patients and escort(s) as requested by the clinical team via hospital transport/ambulance service.
- Where appropriate, to provide additional support with regards catering needs.To assist with booking agency staff and act on any messages in relation to this.
- To provide adequate clerical support where required. This includes photocopying notes and district nurse letters.
