Job description
The job of the Ward Clerk is to support with the administrative duties within St. Raphael Ward and is an integral part of the MDT team in supporting high-quality patient care.
We are looking for a proactive, enthusiastic and hard-working individual to join our friendly team of a specialist 17-bed male acute inpatient ward for older adults with functional mental health disorders.
The post holder will be required to provide efficient clerical support and communication to the whole team. As such, excellent organisational and communication skills are essential.
The post holder will be expected to work as part of a team but also be able to demonstrate independence and initiative when completing tasks of the Admin role.

The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for patients, relatives and visitors to the Ward and must demonstrate a professional and sensitive manner and maintain confidentiality at all times.
Some of the duties are:
- To support the team in the organization of patient reviews to support the MDT
- Keep patient records updated and support clinical colleagues with this
- Manage patient property and be responsible for a petty cash float
- Book transport and interpretation services as required
- Minute taking
- Support ward manager with admin duties
- Ad-hoc cover for other admin colleagues
The successful candidate will have an office of their own but will be based on the ward and therefore there will be an element of direct patient contact and we strongly encourage our admin to interact, listen and support our patients.
