Sainsburys
Full Time Waltham Abbey, England 33785 - 40294 GBP ANNUAL Today
Job description

Has your experience of working in a logistics planning environment given you good commercial insight and an understanding of the relevant legislation, policy and processes like Working Time directive, health & safety law and Tachograph planning? Then make the move to Sainsbury’s and let your talent shine, playing a key transport planning role that will help ensure our shelves are packed full of everything from baguettes to broccoli and biscuits - whenever they’re needed.

You don’t get from being a small shop in 1869 to one of the UK’s most loved retailers without a passion for innovation and a relentless pursuit for better. And that’s where you come in because, right now, we’re looking for a Depot Transport Planner to join our Operational Execution, Supply Chain & Logistics team at our distribution centre.

Keeping our shelves full for our customers depends on us having a terrifically tight team, whether on the shop floor or at our distribution centre, where this particular role is based. Your challenge will be to use a variety of systems to translate volume into a delivery plan that’s in line with the depot budget and ensures the planning process delivers optimum performance to deliver schedule adherence service levels and targets. A great opportunity to utilise your knowledge of transport legislation and drivers’ terms and conditions as a planning and cost control tool, matching driver resource to optimise driver productivity will be key. What’s more, you’ll have input on new build and refit stores to ensure 100% delivery performance during start up and get to support a variety of ad hoc site specific projects.

So, what do you need to succeed? The ability to work with a variety of teams at pace, an analytical mindset and a flair for thinking outside of a remit to ensure we continually improve our plans to keep customers and cost at the forefront is essential. Awareness of the need to build relationships with peers & stakeholders to build expert knowledge that results in improved operational performance is important too. So is the ability to organise, plan and prioritise your work to meet deadlines and break down issues and analyse data to solve problems. Someone who’s confident making decisions in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment, you remain positive when faced with obstacles. And, if you’re great at spotting opportunities to make the way we work simpler and using the correct channels to put these solutions in place and, ideally, have experience of ORTEC & Paragon Planning, we should definitely talk.

Sainsbury’s offer a genuine opportunity to progress. Indeed, you’ll gain exposure to different parts of the business which will help widen your skillsets and move into other roles in the future. Everyone gets their own personal development plan too, plus there’s a real commitment to wellbeing, D&I, values and work life balance.

The benefits are really good too – including paid holiday, colleague discount card after 4 weeks that gives you 10% on most items in Sainsburys, Argos and Habitat (Discount is increased at Sainsburys to 15% every payday for 5 days plus 15% at Argos on every payday) and food and hot drinks is provided in colleague areas in all our Depots.

At Sainsbury’s, we’re a proud equal opportunities employer that values diversity and inclusion at every level of our business. Because when people bring their true selves to work, powerful innovation takes shape. Just know that whoever you are, we are your Sainsbury’s.
