Job description
- Female-chef led kitchen
- Black-owned business
- Award-winning restaurant
We are looking for experienced waiting staff for Chishuru, our modern west African restaurant led by chef Joké Bakare - TimeOut London's best restaurant of 2022, and #93 in the National Restaurant Awards 2022. The restaurant is open MONDAY TO FRIDAY ONLY.
You must have table service restaurant experience to apply please. We are not looking for people who have only worked in quick service restaurants / retail / pubs.
Chishuru opened in Brixton in September 2020, in September 2021 was named Eater's restaurant of the year in London, and in April 2022 was named TimeOut's Best Restaurant in London. We were placed #93 in the National Restaurant Awards 2022. We closed our Brixton site in October last year and soon will be opening in a new 50-cover location a few minutes' walk from Oxford Circus tube station. We featured in every list of 'hottest new openings of 2023'.
Before we open the restaurant, we are doing an eight-week popup in Borough, SE1. The popup will trade Tuesday to Saturday, and reservations are filling up quickly. We are recruiting floor staff to start with us at the popup at the beginning of May and then move over to the restaurant.
We offer a set menu only, with frequently changing dishes. We are therefore looking for someone who is interested in learning about a new cuisine and is happy to answer lots of questions from our lovely customers. An interest in French wine would be helpful too.
The hourly rate includes an amount of guaranteed service charge, with extra on top every month dependent on the restaurant's performance. Additionally we offer the usual benefits of 28 days holiday and staff discount.
To apply, you must have the right to work in the UK and you must currently be based in London.
