We are looking for a Volunteering Development Officer to contribute to the expansion and embedding of consistent volunteering practices across Dogs Trust, ensuring a professional, engaging and positive volunteer experience for all of our wonderful volunteers!

About the role:

As a Volunteering Development Officer, you will build and maintain relationships with colleagues from across the charity to manage volunteering related queries, deliver training and support the development of the online learning management system for volunteers.

What you'll do:

  • Proactively contribute to the consistent and effective embedding of good volunteering practices, guaranteeing a professional, engaging and positive experience for all our volunteers
  • Input to the successful delivery of volunteer surveys and devise evidence-based action plans based on outcomes.
  • Take responsibility for the delivery of communication plans for volunteering initiatives at Dogs Trust.
  • Improve organisational understanding of volunteer activities and initiatives through the Dogs Trust intranet (Pawtal) and support Pawtal champions to create engaging and informative content.
  • Create and deliver timely solutions and provide support to all volunteer programmes across Dogs Trust, becoming an internal advocate by sharing knowledge of best practice and ensuring that policies and practice reflect up-to-date guidance.

Person specification:

To be successful in this role you will have demonstrable experience within Volunteer Management, including the ability to support a large number of remote teams, and of volunteer engagement and internal communication activity. Excellent written English, an eye for detail, and an ability to work to deadlines are fundamental in this role, while an ability to be flexible and respond quickly to new initiatives is essential. You will also need to be able to travel throughout the UK and Ireland as required.
