We have a new and unique role for a Derwent Tyne Way Volunteering and Community Manager.
In this role you’ll play a key part in working with stakeholders including volunteers, partners, and people in the surrounding communities to develop & deliver the ambitious Derwent Tyne Way Vision. We want to transform the Derwent Tyne Way in Gateshead into a connected, cherished, and accessible nature, culture and heritage rich place created for the benefit of local people and nature.
The role will be hosted by the National Trust but delivery will be through the Derwent Tyne Way Partnership which includes; Gateshead Council, the National Trust, and Tyne & Wear Building Preservation Trust. The roles are funded through the UK Government Levelling Up programme, specifically the Shared Prosperity Fund.

What you'll be doing:You'll be responsible for developing and delivering plans and initiatives that build a great volunteer experience at the Derwent Tyne Way alongside our partner organisations. You'll gain a deeper understanding of the local volunteering community and share your findings with our partners. You'll be responsible for developing opportunities with local people to get involved in this project and be a point of contact for volunteers and groups within the Gateshead area. Working with the Community & Participation Consultant you'll enable people from local communities to inform and shape future plans for the site.

- be confident in working with community groups and partner organisations who host volunteering opportunities and have experience of developing networks to support increased volunteer involvement.
- have experience in working with volunteers within a volunteer framework to support the volunteer journey.
- be confident in representing the Derwent Tyne Way project at local groups and championing the core partnership and the project to stakeholders in the local community, partners, and volunteers.
- excellent people skills enabling strong relationships to be built and maintained.
- experience of working in an urban area with people in nature, culture, and heritage settings.
- and able to work flexibly and respond to an iterative programme of work as it develops.
