Job description
Volunteering with us is an exciting opportunity to be part of a unique theatre experience. As Birmingham’s leading leisure venue, our volunteers are vital members of the team and enjoy an environment where no two days are the same. From award winning shows to our famous pantomime, we are creating a world-class cultural scene for our region and you can be part of it. No specific experience is necessary as volunteers are given amazing support by experienced colleagues as well as through on-the-job training.
Long recognised as one of the UK’s premier theatres, our Front of House Volunteer Programme is a fantastic way to build confidence, gain skills, make new friends and be part of the magic that is theatre. It is a great way to help your local community too.
About the Volunteer Programme
A valued member of the Front of House team, you will provide a warm welcome to visitors as well as deliver excellent customer service across all front of house areas. Whether you are checking tickets, giving directions, supervising the audience during the performance or selling programmes you will ensure customers enjoy an amazing experience that will make them want to come back for more. Important will be the ability to work as part of a cheerful team as well as safely by following set procedures and processes. We will also look to you to feedback any issues or problems so we can respond quickly and continue to delight visitors.
You will also receive full training in being a Fire and Evacuation marshal, being able to safely evacuate all areas of the building including all areas of the auditorium.
If that sounds like you, we are looking for volunteers who can join us at least once a week within a 4 week period. If you can, we would be delighted to hear from you.
What we are looking for is a friendly nature as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will be the sort of person who can adapt to change, enjoys working as part of a team and can use their initiative when needed. Of course, you will enjoy dealing with the public.
In return for your commitment, you will have the chance to work for one of the country's leading venues, receive training in all areas of Front of House and be able to take advantage of staff special offers.
To become part of the Hippodrome family and enjoy a new stage for your skills please apply online.
Recognising under-representation in our workforce of Black, Asian and ethnically diverse people, and those with disabilities, we particularly welcome applicants from those backgrounds, identities and experiences.
Thank you for your interest in a role in our Visitor Services team at Birmingham Hippodrome. However, if you have previously applied to join the team and have been interviewed but were unsuccessful, we would ask that you wait for 6 months before reapplying to any further job opportunities. Thank-you for your understanding.
