Who we are:
The Strategy, Delivery and Assurance function is a newly formed team at the heart of West Midlands Police, so we are looking for fantastic volunteers to help us grow our crucial work! It ensures alignment of strategy, planning, and change activity. Its purpose is to develop and implement organisational strategy, measure and monitor performance and ensure effective prioritisation and delivery of value-adding change programmes. To sum us up, we are all about ensuring West Midlands Police is improving in all ways, for all people. We bring everything together, coming up with new ways to help West Midlands Police be the best force it can be.
This function is also crucial to driving cultural change through continuous improvement; supporting ways of working that enable us to deliver against strategically important improvement plans.
Why we need your help
There are a number of specialisms within Strategy, Delivery and Assurance and we are keen to welcome an individual who can provide specialist administrative support to the wider team. We need someone who can help us to keep all of the vital day to day jobs running so we can continue to progress our new processes more clearly and with your support we can do just that. As our volunteer, you will be helping to analyse data and provide this information to directly assist with our processes, as well as working with the team to produce dashboards and maintaining performance systems. Alongside this, you will also be given opportunities to shadow each of the specialisms during the placement, to help you get a real feel for which area of work suits you best!

Essential information:

- Where appropriate, volunteers should use public transport. We will cover travel expenses to a maximum daily limit of a 1 day network Zones 1-5 Unlimited regional bus*, tram and train travel within the specified West Midlands rail zones (https://ticketing.networkwestmidlands.com/Home/ShowTicket/38)
- Mileage will be in reimbursed at 45p per mile using the Michelin guide https://www.viamichelin.co.uk/
- Volunteers are eligible to claim £5.00 towards their lunch if they volunteer over 4 hours on given day.
- This role description is intended as an indicator of general areas of activity and will be amended with any changing needs of West Midlands Police. It is expected that the volunteer will be flexible, using this document as a framework
Key Responsibilities
- Provide vital administrative support, in a variety of roles, to leads
- Collating and monitoring performance, data analysis, identifying trends
- Stakeholder engagement with colleagues within WMP
- Creation and development of PowerPoints and templates
- Write reports and statistics as directed, to be used by the performance team when creating new processes
- Work to key departmental deadlines for returns
Skills and Experience
- Friendly and approachable
- Good communications skills & a good level of written and spoken English
- Reliable with good time-keeping skills
- Happy to work independently or as part of a team
- Attention to detail and good observational skills
- Administration skills (Microsoft Office, Internet)

Hours
We are looking for volunteers to commit at least 16 hours per month ideally for a minimum of 6 months. Time and date to be agreed with the department supporting the volunteer
Minimum 4 hours per week (preferably Monday and / or Tuesdays, times flexible between 08.00-15.00)
Vetting:
Successful applicants will need to complete NPPV level 2 vetting.
