We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a Band 6, 30 hours a week, 12 month maternity cover for our Volunteer Lead to our organisations. The role sits within the Inclusion, Experience, and Involvement Team.

The Inclusion Experience and Involvement Team are a corporate support service and we work across the organisation, with staff, service users, carers, and volunteers to work collaboratively to improve services and act upon feedback collected. We are a team who has a passion for service improvement, we work in partnership with stakeholders, and we are keen to grow our volunteering programme.

The Volunteer Lead will be the first point of contact for all prospective volunteers, providing a warm welcome and progressing them through the recruitment process to ensure they feel confident and prepared to begin in their volunteering role. The successful candidate will lead active volunteers, ensuring their essential and role-specific training is renewed, that they have what they need, and that any problems are resolved. The post holder will work with teams to create volunteer roles, effectively manage volunteer recruitment and work closely with the wider community to promote volunteering.

The Volunteer lead position is an integral role in our organisation as we recognise the value volunteers bring to the delivery and overall experience of the organisation.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for delivering and developing the organisation’s volunteer services, including undertaking all tasks in relation to the recruitment and management of volunteers adhering to quality standards and promoting the volunteer services internally and externally. In addition, to administer the organisation’s policy for recruiting Volunteers–signing off reimbursement travel and other expenses incurred by volunteers and maintaining accurate financial records of expenditure

  • Work closely with both Human Resources and the Inclusion Experience & Involvement Team to develop a ‘bank’ of volunteer roles with clear descriptions to enable better advertising of opportunities.
  • Provide support to staff within the Trust in how to appoint volunteers, and where this may, or may not, be suitable.
  • To co-develop and maintain a standard induction process for volunteers within the Trust.
  • To lead and coordinate relevant HR & OD processes including ensuring all appropriate checks are completed prior to volunteers being placed and all necessary training/induction has been completed, including administration of these.
  • To work to proactively engage and recruit volunteers from the local communities that HPFT services across Herts, Norfolk & Essex. Work closely with Human Resources to support the development of ‘Work Experience’ activities within Trust services that sit outside of traditional volunteering opportunities.
