Visitor Centre Assistant (Part-Time)

The North York Moors National Park Authority looks after and promotes one of the most phenomenal parts of the British Isles. Filled with breath taking scenery, magnificent wildlife, picture book villages and a dramatic coastline, the North York Moors boasts some of the most diverse landscapes in the UK.
We are now seeking a Visitor Centre Assistant to join our team at Danby Lodge National Park Centre on a permanent, part-time basis, working approximately 1,000 hours per year, including every other weekend alongside hours during the week.

The Role
As a Visitor Centre Assistant, you will help to ensure a high-quality experience is delivered to all visitors at our Danby Lodge National Park Centre.
Helping members of the public get the most out of their visit to the Centre, you will provide information about the area, sell high-quality merchandise in the shop and gallery, ensure that it’s presented in a professional and welcoming manner.
You will also assist visitors who have alternate needs to ensure that there are no barriers to the enjoyment of our facilities and provide further help online and over the phone.
Additionally, you will:
- Assist with art exhibitions and events at the Centre
- Contribute to the merchandising and display of retail products
- Use sales data to manage stock
- Undertake social media training and post regular content to our Facebook page
To be considered as a Visitor Centre Assistant, you will need:
- Retail and cash handling experience
- Experience of direct contact with the public
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- At a minimum, GCSEs or equivalent at level 4 / Grade C or above in Maths and English
