Job description
About Us
Ministry of Sound opened in 1991 in a disused bus garage in a forgotten corner of South London. It was the first nightclub in the UK to have a 24-hour licence, didn’t serve alcohol and featured an earth-shaking sound system in a specially constructed dance box. We went on to become the world’s largest independent record company and stage giant dance events, including one for 50,000 people at the Millennium Dome.
We were pioneers in electronic music and have a history of taking risks, innovation, and colourful and creative marketing. As a business we don’t take ourselves too seriously, like to laugh and have fun, but we have high standards, a relentless attention to detail and the continuous improvement of our product, and we work hard as a team. We hate cliché, doing things the way others do and continuously seek to differentiate our brands and products almost as a point of pride. We are a pioneering international brand that continually evolves and disrupts notions of space, sound and music.
Ministry of Sound is a venue synonymous with excellence. We host the best artists, the best sound system, the best production and we deliver the best service. This has brought us the accolade of being described as one of the clubbing wonders of the world.
Our exclusive VIP area includes private bar and facilities with a comfortable private seating area and views over The Box and The 103. Unrivalled and personable customer service is essential, as are those personal touches whilst ensuring our guests have an unforgettable night. Thirty years later we opened The Ministry, a workspace run as a member’s club, in a 50,000 sq. ft Victorian warehouse in SE1.
The design is relaxed but functional with a bar, opening windows, an outside courtyard and plenty of space to sit, relax, work and socialise – everything you wouldn’t expect to find in a standard office. There’s great home cooked F&B, a state-of-the-art gym and fitness studio with daily classes, together with a cultural and business events programme.
The Role
This is a role for someone with a great history of networking and building relationships. You will assist the Sales and Hospitality Manager in managing a team of waiting staff, as well as assist in managing the bar team including floor / bar support members.
On the night, you will be one of the first people that customers see on arrival and one of the last they see when they leave. After greeting people from the front gate, you will take them to their table in the VIP area, assisting them through security checkpoints along the way.
As well as looking after pre booked clients you will convert 'on the night enquires' into bookings whilst the club is in operation & checking in on and attending to anything they may need. You will ensure the smooth and effective service whilst we are open and maintain a great level of customer attentiveness throughout.
By overseeing the set-up of the VIP area during operation, you will push for the highest standards, maintaining these standards at all times. You will be well presented with a professional approach and passionate about delivering an excellent customer experience. You will get involved in taking drinks orders and working closely within the bar to table chain, monitoring behaviour of customers to always ensure a pleasant atmosphere.
You will believe in the brand and drive to always elevate the client experience. You will know the importance of being always visible whilst moving throughout the VIP area and interacting with guests to provide information and respond to inquiries about products, our services and deal with any complaints impeccably.
You will help establish best practices and opportunity to grow this new position.
