Position Summary…
The Vice President, Human Resources for Gray Construction will be responsible for leading and directing the Human Resources function for a $3B Construction company. The ideal candidate will be a strategic and hands-on human resources leader who can develop and execute HR strategies that support the organization’s core values, mission and goals. The VP HR will oversee all aspects of team member relations, workforce planning, compensation, succession planning, company specific benefits, talent development and compliance with all relevant laws & regulations.
Responsibilities:What we expect… (Key Responsibilities)
- Create and implement human resources strategies that align with the company’s overall core values, goals and objectives.
- Ensure that all human resources policies and procedures are in compliance with labor laws and regulations.
- Work with the Manager, Talent Acquisition to ensure companies talent needs and workforce planning is aligned.
- Develop and manage effective team member relations programs, including performance management and disciplinary procedures.
- Design and administer compensation and company specific benefits programs, ensuring they are competitive and in line with the company’s financial goals. Analyzes trends in compensation and benefits; researches and proposes competitive base and bonus programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent.
- Work with Manager, Training & Development to identify and align programs to ensure a skilled and motivated workforce.
- Develop and maintain succession planning processes to ensure that the company has a pipeline of talented individuals ready to take on key leadership roles.
- Act as an advisor to the CEO, COO and senior leadership team on human resources matters, providing insights and recommendations to support the company’s strategic objectives.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including labor unions, government agencies, and other HR professionals in the industry.
- Provides support, guidance and coaching to the HR team, management, and other staff when complex, and sensitive questions and issues arise, may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstance.
- Annually evaluates company job descriptions and updates as necessary.
- Responsible for orientation of new members in conjunction with Gray Inc.’s program. Responsible for managing the on-boarding and off-boarding, including exit interviews for team members.
- Develops, recommends and implements Gray Construction human resources policies and procedures and maintains the team member handbook.
- Manages and monitors performance evaluation program and revises as necessary to meet company needs.
- Conducts departmental audits to ensure compliance with FLSA, DOL and ICE.
- Maintains strict confidentiality of team members’ personal information.
- Manages company events and celebrations (i.e. – monthly anniversary celebrations, blood drives, local charity events, etc.)
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
What we want… (Key Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- 15+ years of experience in human resources, with at least 10 years in a leadership role.
- Professional certification in HR is preferred (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP.)
- Proven track record of developing and implementing effective human resources strategies and programs across a diverse workforce.
- Expert knowledge of labor laws and regulations, as well as industry best practices in human resources management.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Experience in the construction industry preferred but not required.
