- Financial analysis for advisory mandates, providing support for the Resource & Industry Sector (O&G, Energy Transition, Metals & Mining) covered by SFA, with heavy emphasis on building and maintaining financial models in MS EXCEL, mainly using CA-CIB’s bespoke and fully audited financial models
- The role will include the assessment of the economic rationale of projects, based upon projected assumptions for capital and operating costs, revenues and the incorporation of the terms of the key project contracts, appropriate fiscal and economic assumptions, finance plans and sensitivity analysis
- Whilst the primary responsibility is financial modelling support, further support with respect to marketing, lenders’ due diligence and managing lenders (e.g. export credit agencies, commercial banks) will also be expected
- Deal responsibilities will also include:
1. Core Financial Modelling: Overall responsibility for financial modelling and analysis as a core team member on a transaction under the supervision of the deal team leader:
o developing the financial model;
o providing input to commercial and financial structuring and undertaking financial analysis;
o primary contact and liaison with the client’s economists / financial modellers / tax and accounting specialists;
o preparation and making presentations to clients on the financial modelling outcomes;
o providing input into financing term sheets and ensuring model alignment;
o leading model auditing with third party auditors and other third party due diligence on model related matters; and
o regular updates of financial models for evolving project assumptions, negotiation of financing terms with lenders; or
2. Back-up Financial Modelling: Working with the modeller in the relevant sector deal team as a back-up on the above; or
3. Overseeing Financial Modelling: Overseeing the modelling by the core team modeller in the deal team who is undertaking the role of Core Financial Modelling under 1. above, providing guidance and technical assistance as required
- Other responsibilities will include:
o preparation of information memoranda and other documents provided to prospective lenders
o lenders’ due diligence;
o ECA management and in particular determination of ECA financing amounts (based on ECA eligible procurement under procurement contracts entered into by the projects, based on other interest e.g. equity stake in project);
o sectorial research;
o assisting with updates to senior management on advisory activities in SFA London, including projected fees; and
o other commercial or administrative duties as assigned.
- Degree or equivalent in Finance or Engineering
3 – 5 years’ experience in project finance financial modelling (O&G, Energy Transition and/or Metals & Mining) including building of models for project finance transactions and undertaking sensitivity analysis- Understanding of typical project finance structures and terms

- Ability to work independently and in a consultative role with deal team lead

- Good knowledge of:o PowerPointo Word
- Advanced Excel software and competence in Visual Basic commands applicable to project finance models
- Financial Modelling best practice course (s)
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and concepts
- Basic understanding of business valuation concepts and applications
