Your role and responsibilities

We currently seeking an enthusiastic animal lover to be part of our current Patient Care Assistant team, working enthusiastically to help maintain a happy, efficient and effective working environment.

Village Vet Hampstead hospital is in North London and walking distance of Belsize Park, on the northern line. It is situated within a village community, close to local cafes and shops.

The practice is exceptionally well equipped and spread across 4 floors with consulting rooms, operating theatre, hospital wards, with a cat friendly ward, and full diagnostic facilities. We support of a variety of patients making this practice a great place to start your veterinary career.

Our Patient Care Assistants undertake a variety of duties as directed by the Veterinary Surgeons and/or Registered Veterinary Nurses and duties or responsibilities may include:

  • Maintaining Infection control
  • Preparing and maintaining patient accommodation
  • Assisting with patient handling and restraint
  • Monitoring, recording and providing supportive care to patients, under the direction of the Veterinary Surgeon and Registered Veterinary Nurse
  • Assisting with diagnostic techniques to include preparation of sample equipment, processing samples and/or packaging for external laboratories
  • Maintenance of theatre to include preparation of the environment and equipment and

cleaning, packaging and sterilisation of sterile supplies

  • Assist with the management of the pharmacy to include unpacking of orders, stock rotation and environmental temperatures
  • Assist with reception and client care to include answering the telephone, dealing with enquiries, booking procedures and taking payments
  • Participation in a shift pattern with fellow Patient care assistants.

Previous experience is advantageous but training and support for the role will be provided
