The vacancy is for for a Veterinary Care Assistant
Job Description – Veterinary Care Assistant for an exotic, small animal and ophthalmology referral practice in Harold Wood, Essex.
Hours: Between 20-40 hours per week as required, working on a rota system. . Working between the hours of 8am and 7pm Mon-Fri and occasional Saturday 9 to 2pm with a day off in lieu .
Holiday: 28 working days paid holiday (Including bank holidays)

Work Experience: Previous experience in a veterinary practice an advantage as is experience of handling both small and exotic animals but not essential.
PERSON SPECIFICATION: You will need to be resilient, confident, empathetic and patient. You will need excellent communication skills both written and spoken. We are looking for a hard working and caring individual to join our team.
RESPONSIBILITIES: General aiding of the veterinary surgeon and the nursing staff. The applicant must be prepared to deal with all species. Care and feeding of the animals, cleaning of their Kennels, cages or vivaria and the surgery, together with equipment and surgical instruments is a major component of the job. On site training will be given for handling, dealing with anaesthesia and looking after in-patients and post-operative patients. Assisting of Veterinary Nurses in handling of patients for medication and procedures.
WAGES:- The salary will be dependent upon starting age with salary reviews in April of each year.
Under 18 years of age £ 5.28/hr
18-20 years of age £ 7.49/hr
21-22 years of age £ 10.18/hr
23 & over £10.42/hr
The wages are based on a 20 hour working week but with further overtime of up to a maximum of 20 hours per week (as required) on a rota. Payment of wages is by BACS on the last Friday of each month, in arrears.
Uniforms are provided and have to be worn.
