Then the Venue Hire Manager position at The University of Manchester’s Jodrell Bank could be for you!

As our Venue Hire Manager, you’ll be developing and delivering a brand aligned venue hire and functions offer at our unique site. You will join a highly supportive management team collectively responsible for delivering the visitor experience and presenting inspirational engagement and learning opportunities at Jodrell Bank. The Centre operates as a commercially savvy social enterprise and is dependent on self-generated revenue. You will be responsible for building a high standard venue hire offer - aligned to our values, upholding our guardianship of a national treasure and maximising the potential of this hitherto un-tapped income stream.

You will pride yourself on delivering exceptional customer service to internal and external clients, ensuring functions run smoothly and guests are satisfied with the quality of the event, the facilities, and the service they receive.

Due to the requirements of the events, hours will vary, predominantly Monday to Friday with some weekend work.

You’ll focus on:

  • Developing business hire strategy
  • Building, implementing, promoting and delivering a new offer including conferences, meetings, private events, and weddings
  • Liaison with the wider team to ensure successful event delivery and achievement of ‘best practice standards’
  • Realising a highly performing and profitable offer, contributing to the Centre’s business resilience
  • Ensuring that all venue facility and service requirements are planned, prepared, and delivered on a consistent and timely basis
  • Overseeing and monitor Health & Safety (H&S) requirements within the scope of the role

About You:

As a successful Venue Hire Manager, you will have the following:

  • Demonstrable professional skill and/or knowledge gained through relevant industry experience preferably combined with an events related qualification
  • Knowledge and awareness of the competing demands involved in venue hire delivery at a high profile prestigious site
  • A working knowledge of leading operational compliance for Health & Safety Regulations related to venue hire operations
  • Ability to manage and prioritise own workload
