VAS/VMS Sign Engineer - Birmingham (m/f/d)

Your Challenge
Due to new and exciting projects our Field Engineering Services team is growing even further - join us as a VAS/VMS Sign Engineer covering Wolverhampton, Walsall and Dudley.
The role of the VAS/VMS Sign Engineer is to carry out installations, repairs or routine maintenance of roadside electronic signage VMS/VAS, CCTV and MESH equipment. Ensure compliance with statutory obligations with regards to Health and Safety during all work activities, for yourself and other engineers and contractors and promote good practice and efficiency in installation, maintenance, and fault-finding techniques.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out installation works as required
- Carry out commissioning activities with clients.
- Fault repairs of equipment within contract timescales
- Carry out routine maintenance visits on equipment in line with provided maintenance schedules.
- Build good working relationships with clients.
- Show a high level of professionalism, demonstrating particular attention to customer service.
- Work nights and weekends as required.
- Be available for out of hours call out including a weekday and weekend rota basis.
- Be responsible for the completion of all paperwork relating to site activities, within the required timescales, with the required level of accuracy
- To help as far as is practicality possible to assist with any other reasonable requested duties that are required for the smooth running of the company.
- Must be able to adapt to changing priorities, be multi-tasking and react effectively under pressure
- Ability to work on their own initiative with minimal day-to-day supervision
- It will sometimes be necessary for the job holder to stay away from home whist working on a site. The decision when to stay away will rest with the Line Manager / Project Manager. Hotel accommodation will be provided.
Your Profile
- Minimum of 12 months working as a “Highways Electrician” or similar.
- Preferred background in Electronic Signage, Traffic Signals, Barrier equipment or Vehicle Detection Systems, CCTV & MESH equipment.
- Experience of working on the Highways
- C&G Electrical Qualifications.
- Good IT Skills.
- Good Communication skills; ability to communicate clearly and professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
- Good knowledge and experience of Health and Safety activities and Environmental legislation. (Training will be given)
- Good Electrical & Practical experience and knowledge to be able to understand our products and services
- Good organisation skills and ability of working on own initiative.
- This position is conditional upon the job holder passing a safety critical medical examination, and any further medical examinations required by our customers
- This position is conditional upon the job holder passing all drug and alcohol testing instigated by Swarco UK & Ireland Ltd or by our customers on site
- Right to work in the UK
- Full driving licence
