Job description

Debenhams is looking for a UX/UI Designer to turn our software into easy-to-use products for our customers. UX/UI Designer responsibilities include gathering user requirements, designing graphic elements and building navigation components. To be successful in this role, you should have experience with design software and wireframe tools. If you also have a portfolio of professional design projects that includes work with web/mobile applications, we’d like to meet you. Ultimately, you’ll create both functional and appealing features that address our customers' needs and help us grow our customer base.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Support our Product Optimisation roadmap
  • Idea generation, campaign building (HTML, CSS & JavaScript coding skills required) and result tracking for our A/B optimisation and personalisation test programme
  • Develop and deliver successful user experiences for a responsive site
  • Have an international focus, understanding the nuances of user experience for the retail sector allowing for effective localisation and optimisation of individual sites on a global scale
  • Keep up to date with competitor activity, industry trends and best practice so new ideas can be integrated into our projects
  • Work with the team to help plan the future direction of user experience for the business and as part of this take the lead on designated projects to develop and deploy the best user experience possible for our customers
  • Ensure relevant inputs are accessed, understood and used at the start of a project e.g. previous testing, analytics, market data, voice of the customer etc
  • Validate user requirements from a technical/feasibility perspective with technical and other business stakeholders
  • Develop, document and own the detail of user requirements by utilising a variety of techniques including user stories, written requirements, wireframes and prototypes
  • Handover the solution/spec to the relevant technical team, ensuring level of detail is fit for purpose, fit for the audience and is understood by the audience
  • Document and share any requirements, learnings and development with the wider team
  • Help conduct user-acceptance testing (UAT) against user stories for own projects as well as for wider UX team projects.
  • Demonstrate the Boohoo behaviours in how work is delivered.
  • Follow our business code of conduct and always act with integrity and due diligence.

ABOUT YOU

  • Proven work experience as a UX/UI Designer or similar role
  • Portfolio of design projects
  • Knowledge of wireframe tools (e.g. Wireframe.cc and InVision)
  • Up-to-date knowledge of design software like Adobe UD, Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Team spirit; strong communication skills to collaborate with various stakeholders
  • Good time-management skills
  • Able to escalate to appropriate team members and senior management of external stakeholders
  • Ability to prioritise is a must, as factors will often change requirements
  • Organised, efficient, and good at problem solving
  • Strives to identify improvements to processes and refine as needed.
