Position: Intermediate UX/UI Designer
Job Overview:
As an Intermediate UX/UI Designer on the Longo’s User Experience team, you will be responsible for designing solutions for mobile/web and other digitally led and/or digitally-integrated experiences in the Longo’s ecosystem. You will envision how users experience mobile and web applications and bring that vision to life in a way that feels inspired, refined and, simple. You’ll take on complex tasks and transform them into intuitive, accessible and, easy-to-use designs with guest empathy at the root of everything you do.
- Participate in user research, interviews, surveys and, usability studies, translating findings into wireframes and prototypes.
- Make recommendations as per insights gathered to inform product roadmap.
- Participate in stakeholder interviews to determine feature/functionality requirements.
- Conduct industry research and stay up-to-date on best practices, competitor UI/UX designs/flows and emerging technologies.
- Review product requirements gathering documentation as provided by Product Management outlining the needs of stakeholders (UX, business, operations, IT/Development) and market competitive examples.
- Actively participate in product enhancement familiarization meetings.
- Lead UX external resources ensuring design library, functionality and requirements are strictly adhered to.
- Ideate, create storyboard and, style tiles to visually communicate your ideas.
- Create patterns, icons and supporting imagery to improve guest interaction.
- Develop user flows, use case scenarios to demonstrate how a Guest/user will navigate through a product or service.
- Create wireframes
- Create prototypes demonstrating a working knowledge of responsive design and grid principles for Desktop, Mobile, Mobile App and tablet.
- Ensure design is accessible.
- Provide final source files for IT/Development
- Provide JPEGs for easy Product Management reference.
- Provide supporting documentation/video to insure seamless implementation.
- Conduct, observe and analyse usability testing sessions.
Visual QA (Product acceptance)
- Participate in the Visual QA during QA process by validating against intended design.
- Documents changes required so that they can be acted on by the development team.
Communication/Documentation
- Effectively communicate and provide supporting rationale for your designs to UX team, product management, developers and, other key stakeholders.
- Develop standard UI components and style guides for company-wide use.
- Develop design and user behavior specifications for Product Management and Development Team.
- Manage UX content and Guest Communication as it relates to product and service.
- Support Product Management/UAT team to make sure features are implemented as intended.
- Be able to take constructive feedback and manage accordingly.
Brand Ambassador (Policing of Brand Standards)
- Manage design libraries and design systems with adherence to product branding requirements.
- Create and present suggestions for where the design system needs to evolve and obtain approval.
- Ensure specifications are well documented.
UI/UX stakeholder
- You will act as a key stakeholder for UI/UX digitally lead initiatives.
- Research/Reporting
- Under advisement of my superior, publish findings of research for distribution within the organization.
- BFA/BS/BA/College Diploma in Graphic Design, Interactive Design and, a User Experience Design Masters or, 1-year post-grad certificate.
- In-depth understanding of human centered design principles and how to apply them to business challenges.
- Previous experience in e-commerce, grocery experience would be a huge asset.
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience in a busy, demanding corporate environment.

- Ability to code or understanding of in HTML, CSS, SASS and Javascript
- Experience with Google Analytics
- Good understanding of Agile development methodology
- Majority of work is performed in a standard office environment with participation in meetings at the office.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities with demanding deadlines
- User testing may require travel to various locations; stores, businesses, delivery vehicles, distribution centre, central kitchen etc.
- Ability to work in cold or hot conditions may be required.
- Review, input and analyze large volumes of data on the computer daily for long periods of time.
- Requires high functioning cognitive ability and focus for long periods of time.
- May require you to be in the presence of vulnerable public. Extra patience and the ability to conduct your behavior in a professional and with an empathetic lens is essential.
- Light lifting/assembly may be required.
- Ability to work with a wide variety of personalities
