UX Designer London, England

Arctic Shores
Full Time London, England 31537 - 42000 GBP ANNUAL Today
Job description

Why Arctic Shores?

We’re a technology company that’s redefining how hiring gets done. At Arctic Shores, we’re on a mission to give every individual the opportunity to show their potential, and every employer the means to see it. All with our Talent Discovery Platform – UNA.

We’re fuelled by over 60 explorers, united by a belief that human potential – in all its forms – is genuinely worth knowing, and worth celebrating. Wouldn’t you agree?

The role

The role sits within our Product team working very closely with Engineering and reporting to a senior UX manager. If you're someone with the creativity, aptitude and desire to recognise the pain points, iterate designs and help customers with their business needs using live data this could be the perfect role for you?

Although previous experience of working as a UX or UI Designer is highly desired, we’re also open to candidates who believe they have the potential and relevant transferable qualities to succeed in the role.

In fact, we believe in our product so much, we’re scrapping the CV for the first stage of our selection process and will consider applications based on the answers to a few simple questions (to better understand your experience, expectations and motivations); and completion of our unique task based assessment (to identify your natural strengths and preferences). This gives us a much better feel for how you’ll fit into the role, taking into account all the qualities that make you, you. We’ll also do this anonymously to remove the opportunity for bias in our screening.

In return, we’ll automatically provide you with some valuable feedback and insights which may help you with your job search, regardless of whether we would like to proceed your application to the next stage. After the initial screening stage we will be requesting a portfolio and a technical test.

Our deadline for applications is Sunday 25th June 2023.

The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues in our 2 cross-functional product delivery squads (which due to the nature of our product offering includes an exciting mix of developers, product owners, UX designers, data scientists, cognitive / neuroscientists and applied psychologists) along with business stakeholders in order to:

  • Understand and prioritise the users needs to produce interfaces and experiences that add value.

  • Work closely with the Engineering team to produce designs, refine and compromise based on technical restraints.

  • Collaborate with Product Owners to gather business, customer and user feedback on ideas or features throughout the product life cycle.

  • Undertake user research and competitor analysis to provide insight and direction to feature design and strategy

  • Continuously iterate and improve on existing product features and design decisions based on user feedback and data.

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • A champion: who will put the needs of the user first and understand and empathise with the user’s problems and pain points to provide a frictionless and positive experience.

  • A thinker: that fully considers the requirements of a problem, analyses feedback and provides a solution which gives the best experience to the user with the least effort for the development team.

  • A multi-tasker: Able to work across several areas of a design at once, and capable to put into practice the results of testing into quantifiable design decisions, it is important to be organised and able to manage their own time.

  • An explorer: who must always think creatively and look for solutions outside of the ordinary; it is important to continuously push the boundaries of design systems and discover new practical solutions

  • A communicator: who has the confidence presenting their analysis and designs, verbally, visually and in writing to different audiences with different needs and across many formats. It is also important to be able to speak to and understand the problems and concerns faced by users directly.

  • A self-starter: Comfortable working independently and collaboratively across many functions of the business

  • An influencer: Confident in creating strong interpersonal relationships with colleagues across the business and placing confidence into users undertaking user studies, they must be approachable and present the product in an unbiased way.

Our values make us who we are:

Make a difference

We can’t change everything. But we can contribute to a world of work that’s truly fair and inclusive, and do our bit to build a better society.

Grow together

We invest in our ability, learn from our setbacks, and always celebrate the people behind our progress. By growing together, we go further.

Explore, always

Changing the way the world sees potential takes curiosity, drive, and bravery. With that explorer’s spirit, we break new ground.

Equal Opportunities

At Arctic Shores, giving people a fair chance is what we do, that's why we take equal opportunities seriously. We welcome people of any background, gender identification, race, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, ability level, age, size, marital status, style, or music taste!

We also believe that every candidate should have an equal opportunity to demonstrate their abilities so if you need any adjustments, at any stage of the hiring process, let us know what can we do to make it the best possible experience for you and we’ll do our very best to help.
