Job description

Our busy user experience and digital design team are looking for people to support their mission – to reach the hearts, minds and spirits of our customers and help them meet their goals.
You will be part of a growing UI design function within the UX & Digital Design team where we help Government and Business customers get the most out of our geospatial data.
This is an excellent opportunity for a self-motivated and creative individual to join a friendly team of like-minded people, product owners, digital designers, and the content team to deliver a diverse range of OS products across government and business.
We’re seeking a UI designer that is comfortable designing branded site experiences from campaign pages, to web apps, to Software-as-a-service dashboards.
As a Digital UI Designer, you will work within a User Experience and Design team to design customer-facing data ordering and fulfilment systems, and web-based mapping tools built for our Government and Business customers.
You will also contribute to the management of our design system and liaise with the Brand team to ensure brand consistency across the interfaces we build for ourselves and our customers.
The role will also require you to rapidly iterate designs based on feedback to produce production ready finished products into product development teams so you will be experienced in managing design processes end to end within an Agile / Sprint development process.
You’ll be joining a team that combines UX and UI design disciplines into a single team to offer a unified design offering to the organisation.
The role balances strong customer understanding and design skills and hands on project involvement, stakeholder management and collaboration.
Main Responsibilities of a User Interface Designer will include:
  • Designing mapping applications for Government and Business customers, our customer-facing data delivery and account management system (the OS Data Hub), and Government / Corporate website customer journeys
  • Creating user-centred designs by understanding business requirements, and user feedback
  • Delivering inclusive and accessible services and champion this approach across the business
  • Creating and collaborating with user experience designers on user flows, wireframes, prototypes and mock-ups
  • Help manage the design system, interaction design patterns and customer-focussed user interfaces
  • Designing responsive and accessible UI patterns in collaboration with UX researchers and designers
  • Identifying and troubleshooting User Experience problems
  • Collaborating effectively with product, engineering, and management teams in an Agile development environment
  • Incorporating customer feedback, usage metrics, and usability findings into design in order to enhance user experience
  • Presenting ideas, concepts and design solutions to various stakeholders incorporating feedback in your designs
  • Developing and maintaining documentation regarding style and interaction guidelines
Key Requirements
  • Expert knowledge of a range of digital design tools
  • You will be able to demonstrate accessible and adaptive website and web application design
  • Day-to-day we use Figma – you will have experience with equivalent tools
  • You pay strong attention to detail and have a keen eye for aesthetics
  • You have excellent communication skills and can clearly articulate your ideas, designs, and suggestions
  • You are a strong team player who can collaborate effectively with different stakeholders
