ACS Egham International School is recruiting a University & College Counsellor to join the team. At ACS Egham, we offer all four International Baccalaureate programs with a foundation in a NEASC accredited High School Diploma - These flexible yet IB embedded pathways provide an aspirational, global, and modern learning experience that inspires children to become the drivers of their own success.
The main purpose of this role is to work as part of a team in the IB Student Centre playing a leading role in university & college counselling for students in grades 9 to 12. You will be responsible for guiding the career and university pathways for approximately half of our cohort.
We are recruiting a counsellor with a passion for inspiring students through a concept based, inquiry driven and student focused approach.
Main Responsibilities:
- Take the leading role in all educational and informational programs related to college counselling (eg student, teacher and parent workshops, open evenings, assemblies etc)
- Keep up-to-date on issues and trends related to university placement through professional development and attending conferences
- Be college counsellor for a group of students in grade 11 & 12 that will be divided amongst the college counselling department
- Assist with PSHE/Advisory program for students in grade 11 & 12 to support their transition to life after school
- Support Grade 10 students in preparation for their subject selection process and university planning
- Support delivery of grade 9 Careers Education initiatives
- Meet regularly and individually with students and families in his/her case-load
- Advocate for his/her students throughout their college application process, including written letters of recommendation
- Work with advisors to facilitate college application process including course selection
- Work with faculty to improve and standardise the quality of their advocacy letters
- Keep abreast of individual student status with regard to credits, academic warnings, honour roll etc.
- Oversee timely delivery of key admissions documents to international universities in support of applicants, transcripts, letters of recommendation, etc
- Be available for parent conferences and “drop-ins” (“Open Door” policy).
Skills and Experience:
- Previous teaching experience or related university admission experience.
- Strong knowledge of UK, US and other colleges and universities; an established network of admissions colleagues
- Previous experience of using or willingness to learn to use Bridge-U programming and administration
- Bachelor degree in a related field is essential
- Experience working in high school college counselling or university admissions is essential. Experience in teaching is preferred.
- Strong IT skills are essential.

Salary: £43,000.00-£48,000.00 per year
