Citizens Advice Hull & East Riding (CAHER) is a busy, progressive and dynamic service serving a city and a large rural county. CAHER work together to make a positive difference in the lives of our clients.

We have the following vacancy based in Hull (although we may consider requests to work from our Goole or Bridlington offices):

Universal Support Workers (Training provided in benefits advice)

Based mainly in our Hull office

1 x 37 hours (5 day equivalent) per week

Or

2 x 18.5 hours (2.5 days equivalent) per week

This post is primarily to cover maternity leave to 31st August 2023, but may be extended.

Salary: £ 23,207 p.a. (rising to £ 24,630 p.a. upon completion of training and reaching agreed competencies)

The post holders will give advice and support to new Universal Credit claimants in accordance with the new “Help to Claim” service model devised by national Citizens Advice.

The post holder will be required to provide advice over digital channels webchat, email, telephone and video.

We operate a hybrid model for our service delivery meaning the post holder will be required to attend the office for a minimum of 60% of their contractual hours with the option to work from home for the remainder. We will provide the support and equipment to enable this.

The post holder will have good interpersonal skills and demonstrable customer care skills.

You will have experience of using telephony and / or IT systems to deliver services across multiple channels including face to face, webchat and / or telephone.

This includes completing required monitoring for Citizens Advice against project KPIs and assisting with the establishing, maintaining and developing of local partnerships.

You will have the ability to work both independently with minimum supervision, and as part of a team and to be confident using a wide range of IT systems.

The post holders should ideally have knowledge of the current law and policy in relation to benefits although this is not essential as training will be provided.
