Job description
- The Underwriting Assistant is to provide support and assistance to the London based Casualty Reinsurance team.
MAIN TASKS
- To carry out tasks as requested by the Unit Head to support the Casualty Reinsurance underwriting team.
- Support other London based Reinsurance teams as needed (peak periods, holiday etc)
- Maintain records of submissions, meeting notes and data in the unit’s files and ensure these are kept up-to-date.
- Create research notes on existing and potential clients prior to meetings.
- Maintain the unit’s workflow as well as creating and managing pricing requests.
- To be responsible for the quality and integrity of the unit’s data.
- To take on the responsibility of operating and monitoring premium income.
- Assist in the triage of submissions - ensuring we have the relevant data and that the results correlate with the figures provided by brokers.
- Produce a summary of the Monthly Claims report for underwriters.
- To assist underwriters with maintaining beneficial working relationships with brokers and clients to develop the business in accordance with the business plan.
- To negotiate business which falls within the agreed level of underwriting authority and in accordance with the unit protocol and direction from the Unit Head.
- Collate all relevant information required for any internal/external audits.
- Achieve agreed training programme which includes:
o Progressive training towards ACII qualification.
o Attend Lloyd’s briefings on appropriate issues concerning the unit.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:
- Demonstrable passion or desire to work within the insurance markets
- A level / Tertiary education level required
- Ideally some experience of insurance markets, however, not mandatory
- A commercial mindset and strong presentation skills.
