Job description
Underwriting Assistant: circa £25,000 for Norwich / circa £28,000 for London
Do you have excellent organisational skills? And have you been working in an Administration or data entry focused role within Financial Services / Insurance recently, and are now hungry for a new challenge? If so, we are on the lookout for hard-working professional to take their first steps into, or further develop their, underwriting career…
A bit about the job:
You will join Aviva’s Private Clients (APC) team - who provide underwriting for High-Net-Worth (HNW) clients – where you will undertake an administration and data entry focused role, which underpins the team’s core underwriting capability. You will be responsible for new business submissions, appraisal requests, client checks, sending out mid-term adjustments / renewals and other ad hoc administrative duties, for both the APC underwriting team and our broker panel. If we get our service right (i.e., meeting, or exceeding underwriting service SLAs), it puts us in the best position to succeed our targets – therefore we need someone super organised, who has excellent communication skills, as you will be the first point of contact for both telephone enquiries and written correspondence coming into the division.
Aviva introduced “smart-working” in 2020 and encourage flexible working; however, the successful post-holder will need to be based a commutable distance from our Norwich, or London offices.
Skills and experience we’re looking for:
- Experience of working in the Financial Services sector previously, in a data entry and/or administration role (prior underwriting experience is desirable but not essential – just a passion to start or develop in this area will suffice!)
- Good communication and negotiation skills i.e., be comfortable speaking to a wide range of brokers
- Enthusiastic, team player attitude
- Good attention to detail, with excellent organisation skills
- Ability to know how to prioritise tasks in a busy environment
What you’ll get for this role:
- Annual salary of circa £25,000 - £28,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications).
- Generous pension (starting level Aviva contributes 8%, when you contribute 2%).
- Eligibility for annual performance bonus.
- Family friendly parental and carer’s leave.
- 29 days holiday per year plus bank holidays and the option to buy/sell up to 5 additional days.
- Up to 40% discount for Aviva products.
- Brilliant flexible benefits including electric cars.
- Aviva Matching Share Plan and Save As You Earn scheme.
- 21 volunteering hours per year.
