BAT UK IS LOOKING FOR AN UNDERGRADUATE INTERN – BEHAVIOURAL PSYCHOLOGY – fixed term 12 months

SALARY RANGE: £18,200

LOCATION: Southampton

ROLE POSITIONING AND OBJECTIVES

What are the key objectives and expectations from this role?

This job opening provides an exciting opportunity for an appropriately qualified Scientist or Psychologist to design and conduct risk perception and consumer use-behaviour studies. It will also involve working with multi-disciplinary team to design studies to understand:

  • Product use behaviour (level of consumption, patterns of use (e.g., predominant use, dual use), puffing topography (e.g., puff volume, puff duration, number of puffs), and product acceptability (subjective reinforcing effects and sensorial experience);
  • Behavioural intentions (intention to try & use RRPs and any change in intention to quit smoking cigarettes based on exposure to RRP communication materials);
  • The ability of consumers to follow use instruction, product misuse, perception and comprehension of product messaging (especially those associated with risk).


What is the direct impact of this role on the team or organization?


Support on use behaviour studies of which results and data are used as part of regulatory submissions (e.g. FDA submissions) and external publications.

Will be required to be on site throughout the placement period. There will be limited project and training related travelling.


WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR:

  • Building the required survey instruments based on sound scientific principles;
  • Designing and conducting studies to provide key insights into business critical projects;
  • Understanding how a large FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods) company operates;
  • Learning project management and stakeholder management skills;
  • Working on projects across multi-disciplinary teams, gaining wider breath of knowledge and expertise.


CAN THIS BE YOUR FUTURE ROLE?

  • Do you have experience in planning or running studies?
  • Do you have experience in writing study plans, protocols and reports?
  • Do you have experience in developing and administering questionnaires?


ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Experience in writing or assisting in writing of study protocols and questionnaires;
  • Good time management, communication, interpersonal and presentation skills;
  • Project management and leadership skills;
  • Literature review skills;
  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Consumer Behaviour, Behavioural Science, or Marketing.

BENEFICIAL

  • Desired skills in conducting research studies, market surveys, post market surveillance and use-behaviour research;
  • Desired skills in developing and validating instruments/questionnaires (e.g. Rasch model);
  • A knowledge and/or experience in appropriate application of data analysis for behavioural studies.
