Role
The Undergraduate Administration Manager will provide leadership within the Department of Chemistry’s Student and Academic Services team. The role holder will support the Student and Academic Services Manager, and will be responsible for the smooth administration of our undergraduate degree programmes. setting objectives and creating plans to enhance student life cycle support. The role holder will also work with relevant Committees and colleagues to ensure that student facing services are managed to the highest standards. The role line manages a number of colleagues who support the administration of undergraduate courses (currently 5 FTE), and will be responsible for setting objectives, monitoring performance, and leading improvements to the service offered to students and staff. There is also a focus in this role on process improvement and the adoption of digital technologies and automation to improve efficiency and quality, and the role holder will lead developments in this area.
The wider Student and Academic Services team supports all Chemistry students (UG, PGT and PGR students) throughout their engagement with the Department and manages processes from enquiry to graduation, including all aspects of the student life cycle – admissions, student enrolment, issue of equipment, student record management, timetabling, assessment, progression, leave of absence, and other student-facing or student-related processes.
This role has a planned start date of 1 August 2023.
Skills, Experience & Qualification needed
- A detailed knowledge of service provision within a customer-facing environment, in a complex organisation
- Ability to effectively line manage and coach a team of colleagues
- Excellent digital skills and the ability to use these skills to improve and automate processes
- Lead projects
- Communicate effectively in verbal and written formats, including the use of a variety of digital tools
- Experience in student services provision within a Higher or Further Education provider
