Stakeholder Engagement & Communication Summer Intern 2023

This is a 8-week summer internship starting early July 2023.

You will be working exclusively on the East West Rail (EWR) programme – creating a new railway connection between Oxford and Cambridge. The East West Railway Company is a new and exciting venture at the forefront of the changing landscape of the rail industry, delivering substantial fast-paced improvement to modernise the railway.

You will join the Stakeholder Engagement, Consultation and Communication team as they understand the needs of local people and their communities, and associated major infrastructure programme impacts. Tasks may include developing communication materials and planning for engagement meetings and events.

Here’s What You’ll Need:


What do you have?

  • Live or study between Oxford and Cambridge
  • Studying a relevant degree
  • Interest in understanding how various disciplines interact and collaborate to achieve a common vision
  • Creative thinking and passion to work on new innovations

Ideally, here’s what you’ll also have:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Happy to work remotely and independently, with the ability to travel to our project/offices in Milton Keynes, Cotton Centre London, or the geography between Oxford and Cambridge as required (able to discuss flexible working options)

You will join us in the summer period and join our community of interns under our programme called Jacobs Campus. This programme will allow you to work with a mentor who will work with you in identifying areas of learning so that when you leave you have a portfolio of learning experiences to refer to. There will also be opportunities to network through your community and other networks across Jacobs in various experiences that will be on offer general aspirations as a recognised inclusive and diverse employer.
