We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as the UK store development and construction director. As part of our leadership team, we’ll look to you to provide leadership, planning, development, project management and financial oversight for new stores, re-locations, expansions, renovations, facilities management and construction projects for both Equity and Licensed channels. Working closely with our global teams, you’ll be our real estate lead for Starbucks UK, supporting an over 1,100 store retail business, compromising of both wholly owned stores and a licensed portfolio of stores.

For us your inspiring leadership skills and how you develop your partners is just as important as your role related skills. We’re looking for someone who can galvanise the business through your confidence and being able to quickly build trust not just within your own team, but also with our wider stakeholders both internally and externally too. You don’t need to have been within real estate for your whole career, we’ll also be looking for you to have a solid grounding and understanding of a business development mindset, experience with strategic and commercial thinking within a growing business and building partnerships with other brands and businesses externally, you’ll bring the skills we’re looking for.
From a real estate perspective, the successful candidate will have experience in market development through the implementation of well-defined store development strategies, implementing new store expansion and renovation strategies (ideally within a company operated and franchised model) a well as developing and implementing the end to end facilities management strategies making sure our store portfolio is managed and maintained to the highest standards. Whilst local UK knowledge of the real estate landscape is ideal, it’s not essential.
As our real estate director in the UK, you’ll get involved in:
- Setting and leading on our real estate strategic plan, management of our property portfolio, new stores and renovations, with a focus around store profitability of every store
- Reshaping the portfolio structure to profitably grow the business, including all store formats and leading on the negotiation and execution of commercially sound leases
- Leading in the strategy, creation and testing of new store formats and store types through development and maintenance of a strategic 5-year market plan or other current strategic business priorities that aligns with our UK strategy, alongside the overall portfolio and market planning review processes
- Effectively manage both internal and external team performance to SLA’s and KPI’s to ensure we meet our ambitious store growth and renovation targets across all of the estate
- Driving innovation to reduce building and operating costs
