ShareDo you have a keen interest in student admissions? Are you looking to take the next step in your career? We are looking for an enthusiastic team player with strong customer service skills to support our Undergraduate Selection Team.
We have two Undergraduate Admissions Selection Officer vacancies, and the two posts will work together to line manage the Undergraduate Selectors.
About the role:
These roles will supervise the work of the Undergraduate Selection Team (currently 12 staff) as they deliver efficient admissions and a high-quality applicant experience for all undergraduate applicants to the University. Working with the other Selection Officer, you will line manage the UG Admissions Selectors, including delivering training and performance reviews. You will ensure that the team provides an effective and professional enquiry service within agreed delivery standards.
Supported by the UG Admissions Manager (Selection), you will take ownership for day-to-day selection activity, ensuring core activities are carried out in a fair and equitable manner in accordance with agreed selection criteria and university policies. You will monitor workload and allocate resource to meet priorities and ensure effective delivery throughout the admissions cycle. You will also have responsibility for selection for a small portfolio of courses, including assessing applications, processing decisions and responding to enquiries. This will include supporting specialist selection activities.
You will have the opportunity to work with colleagues across the UG Admissions Team, including contributing to projects, operational planning and suggesting improvements to selection criteria and processes.
These roles are advertised on a flexible basis from 0.8-1.0 FTE. Working hours will be agreed with the successful candidates on appointment.
About you:
An understanding of the undergraduate admissions process and the UK education system are essential. Direct experience of working in an admissions environment is desirable rather than essential, however you must understand current issues in higher education and the needs of applicants.
Given the customer-facing nature of our work, excellent communication skills and experience in a customer service environment are essential. Equally important are effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively and flexibly as part of a team whilst taking ownership for your own workload. You will have strong attention to detail and the ability to work at speed with a high degree of accuracy.
This is a great opportunity for someone looking to develop their management skills and would like to pursue a career in undergraduate admissions.
