Job description
Employer Description:
I am a totally dependent paralysed man employing a team of up to 6 live in carers, some are professional carers, some inexperienced trainees, others are OPEN University/GAP Year/full-time students. Their goal is to enable me to live as normal a life as possible in the community. For many years I have also employed GAP year students for 6 or 12 months. Some have moved on to become nurses, physios, doctors, OTs, even midwives, however others have gone on to become scientists, teachers, managers, etc.. All have been able to “Save to Study” as one of my well paid carers. Quality accommodation and food is provided free.
See www.CarerSearch.info/testimonials for previous carers experiences.
Job description
The aim is that two carers work together for varying shifts agreed in advance to fit in with both employees and employers needs. A team of 5 or 6 rotate within the work schedule aiming to ensure that as a dependent disabled person I have the necessary care cover 24/7. When on duty my carers live within the house, when off duty they are normally living elsewhere.
Education and Experience
No previous experience is necessary, just a willingness to learn how to look after a totally dependent paralysed man in a kind, patient and flexible manner. Full training is provided by previous carers and with online training as is necessary.
Responsibilities
This is serious care work as the disabled person is unable to do anything for himself. It requires all his care staff to perform medical procedures involving physio and manual evacuation of the bowels. As well as providing personal care (e.g. washing, dressing, carrying out physio, etc), my carers prepare meals, ensure we do not run out of essentials, assist me with office administration and ensure the house is clean. If necessary, my carers must be prepared to work on their own, if for example if another carer is ill or on leave or just not available. My carers at all times must work to a high standard of cleanliness and care, show empathy, be polite and understanding.
Employee Benefits: £12.97 per hour including holiday pay, 3 quality meals per day provided free, accommodation free, Wi-Fi free.
Essential Candidate Requirements: speak English well and clearly, full clean driving licence, patience, kindness, flexibility, ambition, communications, interpersonal skills, cleanliness and willing to learn necessary nursing procedures.
