WEA have an exciting opportunity for a Maths tutor to join our Midlands team.

As a Tutor, you will provide the highest possible quality teaching and learning to groups of adult learners, both face to face in community classroom venues and through online classroom environments.
The typical group delivery will be 10-12 learners and you will work with the regional education team and central functions to deliver planned provision across the region.

You will be the designated Maths specialist across the region, leading best practice within our provision.

It is anticipated that the successful candidate will be delivering 24 hours teaching per week alongside 11 hours non-teaching work. However, there will need to be an element of flexibility, and this will likely change from week to week and term to term, depending on the provision and courses.

It is our most powerful and important tool in meeting the needs of our learners and the communities, regardless of starting point or educational need - We bring learning to the learner, whether it be in local trusted venues or their living room via online learning.

Providing engaging teaching, learning and assessment with a creative and supportive approach to teaching, adapting to a range of learning styles, and ability to differentiate delivery to learners with mixed abilities to develop learners` knowledge and understanding.

You will be delivering engaging pre-designed course materials, ensuring a wide range of formative and summative assessment practices, which motivates and stretches learners to reach their objectives.

You will plan, prepare and teach courses face to face and online, using Zoom/Teams and Canvas, the WEA`s virtual learning environment. Supporting the wider delivery of a quality curriculum offer that supports the work of the Association.

As a Tutor, you should have:
  • Teaching qualification (PCGE, CertEd, DET or equivalent), Level 5 subject specialism
  • IQA and Assessor qualifications would be desirable;
  • Experience of design and implementation of innovative learning, schemes of work and lesson plans;
  • Experience of effective quality improvement processes;
  • Experience of quality standardisation, moderation and verification practices;
  • An understanding of Ofsteds Education Inspection Framework;
  • A strong team work ethic. We like to collaborate and support each other;
  • A passion for adult education, and making a difference!
