Job Summary: We are seeking passionate and dedicated tutors to join our team at Oakwood Tutors. As a tutor, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional educational support to students of various ages and academic levels. Your expertise and guidance will help students achieve their academic goals and foster a love for learning. We are particularly interested in hearing from applicants with experience of preparing students for school entrance exams (7+, 10+, 11+ etc) or a willingness to learn.
Responsibilities:
- Provide personalised one-on-one tutoring sessions to students in the assigned subject(s).
- Assess students' learning needs and develop customised tutoring plans to address their specific requirements.
- Deliver engaging and interactive lessons that cater to diverse learning styles.
- Assist students in understanding difficult concepts, improving study skills, and enhancing academic performance.
- Offer constructive feedback and encouragement to students to promote their confidence and motivation.
- Monitor student progress, track performance, and adjust tutoring strategies as needed.
- Collaborate with parents, guardians, and the management team to ensure effective communication and support for students.
- Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions, including student progress, achievements, and areas for improvement.
- Stay up to date with the latest educational methodologies and subject-specific developments.
- Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in the relevant subject area or a related field.
- Proven expertise in the subject area and a strong passion for teaching.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build rapport with students and create a positive and supportive learning environment.
- Patience, adaptability, and the ability to tailor instruction to meet individual student needs.
- Previous tutoring or teaching experience is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with relevant curriculum standards and educational resources.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Commitment to maintaining professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.
Location: London and some online.
Schedule: Lessons take place in out of school hours. Typically, this will be evenings and weekends.
Job Types: Part-time, Zero hours contract, Graduate
Part-time hours: 1-10 per week
Salary: From £30.00 per hour
