Young Giants is an education service, providing home and community tuition to children and young people who are not in school or who may need supplementary learning. All of our support takes the form of 1:1 or 2:1 tuition in a learner’s home, school or local setting. We predominantly support students with SEND and SEMH.

We are a small but growing company, continually evolving our services. Founded and run by qualified teachers, we place a strong emphasis on teaching quality and learner progress. Building on our growing success, we are now seeking a new member to join our team and support our daily operations, keeping our learners and our reputation at the heart of our practice.

The role of Tuition Coordinator involves organising and overseeing the day-to-day operations of our service and ensuring our tutors uphold the level of quality we require of them. The role is a combination of customer service and personnel management. This is an exciting opportunity to join a small company and become a key part of its growth.

The role would suit someone with previous experience in education.

The Tuition Coordinator will work remotely from home and as such, we do not require our applicants to be in a particular geographical location.

The salary reflects an allowance for the use of the employee’s home office and WiFi. All work will be conducted online and via phone - a company mobile phone and laptop will be provided.

Main Roles and Responsibilities:

· Liaising with parents and tutors to set up and maintain appropriate and mutually convenient timetables of tuition. This includes the ability to respond to changing situations/needs and clearly communicating changes with all stakeholders.

· Keeping close communication with tutors. Holding them accountable for their quality of service and collating/requesting regular learner progress reports.

· Keeping in contact with parents and monitoring service user satisfaction.

· Attending official meetings for learners.

· Recruiting new tutors in line with government guidance (KCSIE), using platforms like Indeed, social media etc.

· Assessing learner documentation and ensuring appropriate information is shared with tutors.

Other duties will include working with the team to:

· Locate and book tuition/education venues.

· Assist the director with administrative duties as the company develops and expands its service range.

· Keep learner and tutor databases up to date.

· Other appropriate duties determined by the needs of the business.

Hours, Pay and Start Date:

· Full-time 52 weeks of year

· 35 hrs per week – Monday to Friday, 7 hours per day with a start time of 8:30am and a 30 minute unpaid lunchbreak

· £31,500 per annum

· 3% pension contribution

· Statutory holiday allowance of 28 days including public holidays

· Permanent position with a 6-month probationary period

· Start date: As soon as possible - or at end of successful applicant’s notice period

Recruitment Process:

Applicants who pass our initial screening round (via covering letter) are asked to complete our application form. We will then conduct two rounds of online interviews. The first will be a short meeting with one member of management. Shortlisted candidates will then be invited to a longer video meeting of 45 minutes with three members of the team.

Timeline:

· Deadline for applications forms 9am Wednesday 1st February

· Week commencing Monday 6th February – applications reviewed and short, informal interviews scheduled

· Week commencing 20th February – final interviews held

Person Specification

The role would suite a positive and proactive individual who is very comfortable speaking with a range of people including parents, learners, tutors and other professionals. We are looking for someone with a strong track record of customer service and who can cope in a very busy environment. Must have very strong organisational skills. The role can present challenges, particularly where we are supporting complex cases and, as such the Tuition Coordinator must possess a determination to think creatively to problem solve in order to support positive outcomes for our learners.

Essential Skills:

· Good customer service skills and an ability to work with a wide range of people – we are looking for a people person who thrives on building positive relationships

· Ability and confidence to manage personnel and hold staff accountable

· Proactive in problem solving within complex cases/scenarios, putting learner needs at the centre of practice

· Very strong organisational skills, ideally within education management

· Confidence to work independently and take responsibility for a varied workload

Knowledge and Experience:

· Sound knowledge of the UK education system at a local government level, including children missing education, special educational needs and EHCPs - supplementary training for this element can be provided.

· Experience of working in education, social care or mental health sectors, or local government -preferable

· Experience of organising or managing personnel - essential

· Strong administrative skills, including a good understanding of Microsoft Office - essential

· Motivated by the work of Young Giants, its ethos and values - essential

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s Degree as a minimum
