Job description

The Warehouse Tug Driver’s role is to facilitate and ensure that all inbound and outbound trailers are safely located in the yard and driven to the loading bays for loading, unloading, ensuring that the brakes are on, trestles and chocks are used and execute all other tasks relating to warehouse tug operation in accordance with operational and health and safety procedures

Must be able to follow standard operating procedures and work in a methodical and safe driving manner and follow onsite speed limits


PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Reporting to the Supervisor, the warehouse tug driver has overall accountability for tug operations which include, locating trailers, driving, reversing onto loading bays, using trestles and chocks, opening and closing doors and securing load seals, operating Manual Handling Equipment as required and minimizing any losses and damages during these processes.


Complete all tasks with a high degree of accuracy to ensure and maintain organisation standards. Ensure compliance with safety, quality, health and environment procedures. Maintain a safe working environment within the Warehouse and Yard reporting any incidents or accidents immediately to the relevant manager


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To 'locate’ the trailers in the yard and carry out relevant task for trailer.
  • To drive around the site in a safe manner following the traffic flow and site speed limits.
  • To ensure quality and accuracy whilst performing any operation.
  • To perform all other duties as reasonably required that are consistent with both training and experience.
  • Health and safety – to be fully compliant with all health and safety requirements including warehouse procedures, PPE and house-keeping.
  • To complete the pre and post use inspections on the workplace transport and report any malfunction or damage to ensure that the work place transfer is in good working order at all times
