Job Description Summary: PayPal Giving Fund aims to inspire a new wave of philanthropy by harnessing the power of technology to make giving a part of everyday life. We do this by developing and managing innovative programmes that enable donors to support their favourite charities with leading Internet businesses around the world, including PayPal, GoFundMe, Meta, eBay, Twitch, Humble Bundle and Deed. We’re an organization operating at significant scale: last year we raised more than $480m to benefit 147,000 charities in 28 countries. Participation in PayPal Giving Fund is open to all charitable organizations that meet eligibility requirements, and PPGF provides donation and donor reports, issue tax receipts, aggregate donations for monthly electronic distribution, and handle legal registration requirements — without charging individual donors or charities for the services. In 2022, we received donations from 5.6 million people, raising £44 million for distribution to 23,000 charities.

Meet our team
We have a board of six trustees, of whom 3 are senior PayPal executives, with 3 seats for independent trustees, of which one is retiring. We are now seeking a senior leader with experience in the UK charity sector to act as our third independent trustee and join the board of PayPal Giving Fund UK, with the potential to become a future Chair or Deputy Chair.
Along with other trustees, you will be asked to Exercise ultimate responsibility as member of a board for directing the affairs of the charity, acting in the best interests of the charity and ensuring that it is solvent, well-run, and delivering the charitable outcomes for which it was established.
Your way to impact:
Provide strategic leadership for the organisation by taking part in formulating and regularly reviewing its strategic aims, setting policies, and evaluating performance,
Ensure that the activities, policies and practices of the organisation are in keeping with its objects and aims,
Attend all meetings of the Trustees, typically 4 per year, (unless exceptional circumstances occasionally prevent this) and be an active member of the Board in exercising its responsibilities and functions.
To act with the highest level of integrity and comply at all times with PPGF’s Trustee Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
What do you need to bring:
Experience of reporting to, and/or serving on, a charity board, with the ability to Chair board and/or committee meetings,
Close familiarity with charity sector issues and policy developments, , and well-connected across the charity sector,
Has led or overseen the fundraising or business development function in charities of various sizes,
Has developed digital products, and/or harnessed digital technology to transform fundraising and/or service delivery in a charity,
Confident in managing the legal and regulatory requirements on charities, assessing risk, and driving best practice.
Highly numerate, with a good understanding of management accounts and other financial data.
Desirable skills and expertise:
Experience of liaising directly with charity and tax regulators in the UK.
Has taken responsibility for a marketing or communications function, for instance measuring and communicating the performance of a charity to its stakeholders.
Familiarity with large and complex organizations, financial organizations, and/or technology companies.
